🌍 Container Logistics Specialist Join Elkem, a global leader in advanced silicon-based materials. Our Maritime Center (EMC), located in Rotterdam's Waalhaven, plays a key role in managing global maritime logistics and freight procurement for Elkem's international operations. To strengthen our team, we are looking for Container Logistics Specialist who enjoys working in an international environment where operational excellence, analytical thinking, and commercial insight come together. About Elkem Maritime Center (EMC) EMC is responsible for global maritime logistics activities, including: ✅ Contracting container freight for outbound shipments from plants and warehouses to customers worldwide ✅ Contracting inbound freight for bulk vessels and containerized cargo to plants and end users You will join a close-knit team of five professionals and report directly to the Managing Director of EMC. What will you do? As part of our container logistics team, you will be involved in both operational and commercial activities, including: Supporting global tenders and spot rate requests Negotiating freight contracts with carriers and logistics partners Maintaining and updating freight rates in relevant systems Ensuring compliance with company standards, quality requirements and cost objectives Supporting and maintaining Elkem's quality system, procedures and KPIs Registering and following up supplier feedback and transport-related non-conformances Managing supplier rate databases and master data in the ERP system Providing ERP user support Assisting internal stakeholders with container logistics questions and challenges Advising on the best logistics solutions, sailing schedules and equipment availability Maintaining relationships with shipping companies and internal customers at Elkem plants Identifying and developing new supplier and partner opportunities What are we looking for? We are seeking an all-round logistics professional who combines operational, administrative and commercial capabilities. Qualifications Fluent in English and Dutch, both spoken and written Strong digital skills and affinity with data-driven working Advanced user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and analytical/tendering tools Experience within the global and regional container shipping market Strong communication and collaboration skills Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail Commercial awareness and negotiation skills Knowledge of IMO regulations Flexible, responsible and proactive attitude Long-term career ambitions Willingness to travel when required Educational background in Finance, Economics or a related field is considered an advantage Experience Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with international exposure Experience at a container carrier, shipping line or freight forwarder is highly preferred What we offer An international role within a leading global industrial company Exposure to global freight procurement and container logistics A diverse position combining operations, data, supplier management and commercial activities A collaborative team environment in Rotterdam 📍 Location: Waalhaven, Rotterdam 🕒 Employment: Full-time (38.75 hours per week) 🚀 Start date: ASAP For more information, please contact Ellen Aarvaag Groeneveld via [email protected]. Core Responsibilities

Support global container freight tenders, spot-rate requests, contract negotiations, and freight-rate maintenance while ensuring compliance with company standards, quality requirements, and cost objectives. Manage supplier and ERP data, support internal stakeholders, maintain relationships with carriers and plants, and identify new supplier and partner opportunities.

Requirements

Applicants need at least three years of relevant work experience with international exposure, preferably at a container carrier, shipping line, or freight forwarder, and experience in global or regional container shipping. They should be fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch, digitally proficient with advanced office and analytical tools, and bring strong communication, analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills; knowledge of IMO regulations is also sought.
