Job Description

We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join the team in Delft! At S[&]T we contribute to a safer life on Earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. With this, we help organizations, governments and commercial entities to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision-making. We focus on 4 domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability and the High-Tech Industry. We control all levels of the data value chain from data source to user applications, and apply our expertise within our innovations, customer projects and talent acquisition services. Our headquarters are in Delft, The Netherlands and we have two satellite offices in Oslo, Norway and Rome, Italy with a total of 125 experts employed at S[&]T. The High-Tech Consulting team consists of a growing group of people, divided between Delft and Oslo, who work with varying companies on solutions to coding problems. The team has worked on projects such as CO2M and Space Weather with KNMI, SPEXone with SRON and FORUM with HULD, as well as an instrument simulator for an ESA satellite so that all the data processing software can be tested thoroughly before the satellite is launched and also ESA mission EarthCARE. Outside of Space, you may also find projects in other fields such as Quantum technology, in which our colleagues interact with a quantum processor node, that will be used to demonstrate and test the feasibility of a larger quantum network connected across countries. These projects are often partially in Delft and partially on-site at the partners and allow you to come into contact with the technical aspects of the projects while also focusing on your programming skills to solve complex problems. As a Software Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge software development, you are someone who: Enjoys working in a dynamic, high-tech organization Enjoys solving software challenges and looking for the best solution within the budget and time constraints of projects Has a strong analytical mind that enjoys coming up with novel solutions Is capable of self-study to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills across technical areas Your main responsibilities will be: Software development for high-tech or science applications, independently or in a team setting Ensure software quality through code reviews Testing and documentation of the software Optimizing data processing by improving algorithms, and IT infrastructure Communication with project partners and/or the customer within the projects Requirements: You have completed higher technical education (BSc / MSc) in Computer Science or Informatics or a track record in software engineering Proven experience with one or both programming languages: Python, C++ Experience working with Linux (including system administration) You function well in a team (2-5 people) and can communicate effectively and clearly (both verbally and in writing) with customers and your team member Comfortable with writing formal documentation (requirements, design, interfaces, and others) Experience with version management systems/source control (git, SVN), continuous integration (Jenkins), project management tools (Redmine, JIRA), virtualization (VM’s), and containerization (Docker) You are fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch is a preference You are authorised to work in the Netherlands Interested? Requirements

A BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Informatics, or equivalent software engineering experience is required, along with proven experience in Python and/or C++ and experience with Linux. Candidates should work effectively in small teams, communicate clearly, write formal documentation, and have experience with source control, continuous integration, project management tools, virtualization, and containerization; English fluency is required, Dutch is preferred, and authorization to work in the Netherlands is required.
