We’re Hiring an Accounting Specialist - Rotterdam, Netherlands Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to take ownership in a dynamic, international environment? We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team in Rotterdam and play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across our accounting operations. Your Role In this position, you will take ownership of key accounting processes and ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including: Managing and reconciling daily bank transactions and cash movements Maintaining accounts receivable, including collection activities, aging analysis, and provisions Performing intercompany reconciliations and coordinating cross-charges between entities Overseeing fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation schedules Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with Dutch and applicable international regulations Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities Assisting with internal and external audits Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and controls Contributing to finance-related projects and system enhancements Your Profile We are looking for a hands-on, reliable professional with strong technical skills and a proactive mindset: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification At least 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within an international or multi-entity environment Solid understanding of Dutch accounting principles and tax requirements Strong practical experience in AR/AP, intercompany accounting, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and VAT Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems is an advantage Fluency in Dutch and English is required Structured, detail-oriented, and solution-oriented approach to work Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across different countries What We Offer A diverse and responsible role within an international business environment Exposure to multi-entity and cross-border accounting operations Flexible working arrangements Ongoing learning, development, and career growth opportunities A collaborative and supportive team culture with flat hierarchies Fast decision-making and the opportunity to make a tangible impact If you are looking for a challenging accounting role in an international environment where you can take ownership and contribute to continuous improvement, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting operations, including bank and cash reconciliations, accounts receivable, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and VAT compliance. Support month-end and year-end close, audits, and finance projects while improving accounting processes and controls.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification and at least three years of experience in a similar accounting role are required. Candidates should have knowledge of Dutch accounting and tax requirements, practical experience across core accounting processes, advanced Excel skills, and fluency in Dutch and English.
