Your mission We are seeking a Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to build and scale the systems that power bluumy's platform. You will focus on designing robust backend services, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure that enable seamless user experiences and future growth. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems Build and optimize APIs and microservices Design efficient database structures and data models Ensure platform security, reliability, and performance Collaborate closely with Product and Frontend Engineering teams Monitor and improve system health and scalability Participate in architectural decisions Support deployment, observability, and infrastructure initiatives Write automated tests and maintain engineering quality standards Your profile 3+ years of backend engineering experience Strong experience with modern backend technologies Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems Strong database knowledge (SQL and/or NoSQL) Experience with cloud infrastructure Understanding of security best practices Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Fluent English communication skills Optional Experience in high-growth startup environments E-commerce or marketplace experience Experience with event-driven architectures Experience with containerization technologies German language skills Interest in educational technology Why us? Core Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, microservices, databases, and integrations that support the platform. Improve security, reliability, performance, and system health while collaborating with Product and Frontend teams and contributing to architecture, deployment, observability, and testing.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least three years of backend engineering experience, strong knowledge of modern backend technologies, and experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems. They should also have SQL and/or NoSQL database knowledge, cloud infrastructure experience, an understanding of security best practices, strong debugging and problem-solving skills, and fluent English communication skills.
