Company Description Hotwork Heat Treatment & Specialized Services B.V. provides high-quality on-site heat treatment services, primarily for major turnarounds, new builds, coke drum repairs, and large construction modifications in the offshore and shipbuilding industries. The company also has a strong track record in refractory dry-outs, supported by modern equipment including 50 kVA heat treatment centers, Proheat 35 induction equipment, and high-velocity burners. Services range from preheat and hydrogen bake-out to post weld heat treatment (PWHT) and dry-outs. Hotwork serves clients across construction, shipbuilding, petrochemical, refineries, power plants, and offshore sectors, and relies on skilled, well-trained technicians to maintain its service quality. Role Description This full-time Heat Treatment Technician role is an on-site position based in Rotterdam and The Hague. The technician will set up, operate, monitor, and maintain heat treatment equipment, including induction systems, resistance heating units, and high-velocity burners, according to specified procedures and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing work areas, installing and connecting heating elements and temperature control devices, performing preheat, hydrogen bake-out, PWHT, and dry-out operations, and recording treatment parameters and results. The role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings and heat treatment specifications, coordinating with site supervisors and client representatives, and assisting in equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance. The technician will also ensure all work complies with applicable safety, quality, and industry regulations and participate in shift work or extended hours during major turnarounds and projects. Qualifications Technical background in mechanical, industrial, or electrical fields, with experience in heat treatment or related industrial processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and heat treatment specifications. Practical skills in setting up and operating heat treatment equipment (induction systems, resistance heating units, burners) and using temperature control and monitoring devices. Strong focus on safety, including knowledge of relevant safety standards, PPE use, and safe work practices in industrial environments. Good problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment issues and adjusting process parameters as needed. Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with colleagues, supervisors, and client site personnel. Willingness to work on-site at industrial locations, including turnarounds and construction projects, with flexibility for shifts and extended hours. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project sites in Rotterdam, The Hague, and surrounding areas. Previous experience in refineries, petrochemical plants, shipyards, offshore, or power plants is an advantage. Relevant vocational training or certification

Core Responsibilities

Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain heat treatment equipment while carrying out preheating, hydrogen bake-out, post weld heat treatment, and dry-out procedures. Record treatment results, coordinate with site personnel, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure work meets safety, quality, and industry requirements.

Requirements

Applicants need a technical background and experience in heat treatment or related industrial processes, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and operate heat treatment equipment. Strong safety awareness, troubleshooting, communication, flexibility for shifts and extended hours, a valid driver’s license, and relevant vocational training or certification are also required; experience in industrial sectors such as refineries or shipyards is an advantage.
