Job Description

Company Description Student Compass is a Europe-focused platform that helps international students move, settle, and live confidently in new cities. By centralizing verified housing options, step-by-step guidance for paperwork such as BSN, visas, and insurance, and key local services, the platform reduces uncertainty and risk during relocation. Built by international students who have experienced these challenges themselves, Student Compass offers practical, experience-based support from pre-arrival through everyday student life. The company’s mission is to make student onboarding clearer, safer, and less stressful, while partnering with universities, municipalities, and local businesses. Together, they create a scalable onboarding infrastructure tailored to student cities across Europe. Role Description As a Social Media Manager at Student Compass, you will manage and grow the company’s presence across key social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and others relevant to international students. In this full-time, on-site role based in Maastricht, you will plan and execute content calendars, publish posts, and engage with the community through comments, messages, and interactive formats. You will analyze performance metrics, optimize campaigns, and experiment with new formats to increase reach and engagement. Collaborating closely with product, marketing, and partnerships teams, you will translate student needs and platform updates into clear, engaging social content. You will also monitor trends in student mobility and social media, ensuring that Student Compass stays relevant and accessible to its audience. Qualifications Strong skills in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Optimization (SMO), with experience managing brand accounts or campaigns. Excellent Communication and Writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for international student audiences. Experience with Content Strategy, including planning editorial calendars and aligning content with brand and growth goals. Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, or similar) and the ability to draw actionable insights. Ability to work on-site in Maastricht, collaborate cross-functionally, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Understanding of international student life, relocation challenges, or higher education environments is highly beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Proficiency in English; additional European languages are a plus.

Core Responsibilities

Manage and grow Student Compass’s presence across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms by planning content calendars, publishing posts, and engaging with the community. Analyze performance, optimize campaigns, test new formats, and collaborate with product, marketing, and partnerships teams to create relevant content for international students.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience managing social media accounts or campaigns, strong marketing, writing, communication, and content strategy skills, and familiarity with social analytics tools. The role requires on-site work in Maastricht, English proficiency, and either a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; knowledge of international student life is beneficial.

About Student Compass

Industry: Technology, Information and Internet

Company size: 2-10 employees

Student Compass helps international students move, settle, and live confidently in a new city. Relocating for studies often means dealing with scattered information, unclear procedures, housing risks, and constant uncertainty. Student Compass brings everything together in one place — from verified housing and step-by-step paperwork (BSN, visa, insurance) to essential services and local life — and guides students from pre-arrival through their everyday student experience. The platform is built by international students who went through these relocation struggles themselves. Our goal is to make student onboarding clearer, safer, and less stressful, while supporting universities, municipalities, and local businesses through a shared, scalable onboarding infrastructure for student cities across Europe.
