About The Job As our new Senior Business Controller R&I, you are the key financial business partner to key R&I stakeholders and the cross-site teams to challenge and animate our global strategy, ensure reliable forecasting, cost control and governance. In your role, you will actively develop, implement, and drive the cross-category R&I strategy in line with the business goals and manage R&I Finance transversal topics. You will be part of the Global R&I Finance team based in Utrecht, reporting to the Head of R&I Finance in Utrecht and managing 1 Business controller R&I (L9), while mentoring an intern. About The Job Business controlling & reporting Lead forecasting, monitoring and managerial reporting of R&D budget Ensure complete, accurate and timely delivery of monthly closing and financial reporting Collaborate with finance stakeholders to ensure smooth intercompany flows across multiple entities Maintain and improve Power BI dashboards to streamline controlling & reporting processes Support other R&D Finance teams for shared topics Business partnering & value creation Act as a business partner to R&D teams, building financial awareness and clarity across the community Drive regular meetings with internal key stakeholders to control costs & challenge spend and propose solutions to optimize costs Contribute to the R&D value creation agenda via co-building and monitoring ROI, efficiencies and simplification impact assessments Review proposals and support ad hoc topics Leading transversal topics for the team Animate payroll costs for full Utrecht scope, including regular forecast updates and variance analyses Act as the R&I Finance SPOC for the portfolio management tool, ensuring proper governance and effectiveness Contribute to, monitor and improve the process of grant & subsidy reporting in close collaboration with business teams Own team calendar animation, management deck preparation, and masterdata maintenance Meet your new manager! Core Responsibilities

Lead R&I financial controlling, forecasting, budget monitoring, monthly closing, and reporting, while partnering with R&D stakeholders to challenge spending and identify cost optimization and value-creation opportunities. Manage transversal finance topics including payroll costs, portfolio-tool governance, grant and subsidy reporting, team calendar and management materials, and master data, while leading a business controller and mentoring an intern.

Requirements

The role requires substantial business-controlling experience, fluency in written and spoken English, and good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, and Copilot. The candidate should demonstrate leadership, strong communication, reliability, resilience in uncertain environments, continuous-improvement motivation, and the ability to challenge situations and propose solutions.
