Introduction to the job As a software test engineer, you are responsible for validating the quality, reliability, and performance of a distributed software platform that forms the foundation of advanced real-time control systems. The role focuses on testing software integration, platform behavior, communication mechanisms, and timing-critical functionality across multiple software and hardware components. Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you collaborate closely with software developers, system architects, test engineers, and integration teams to ensure new functionality is delivered with the required quality level. Special attention is given to validating platform performance, I/O behavior, synchronization mechanisms, and data integrity across complex system configurations. Role and responsibilities As a software test engineer, you are, together with your team, responsible for verifying and improving the quality of a shared software platform used across multiple products, software releases, and hardware generations. Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification, design, integration, qualification, and sustaining of all ASML products.. In this role, you will: Design, implement and maintain automated integration and regression tests Define test scenarios and test cases for platform functionality, communication flows, and system integration Verify platform timing characteristics, I/O delays, synchronization mechanisms, and data integrity requirements Develop and maintain test tooling, simulators, and automated test environments Execute test campaigns and analyzing test results to assess product quality and release readiness Investigate software defects and test failures, supporting root-cause analysis together with development teams Contribute to continuous integration and automated qualification pipelines. Identify test coverage gaps and proposing improvements to increase product quality Report test progress, quality metrics, and risks to stakeholders. Collaborate with software developers, architects, and integration engineers to ensure requirements are testable and adequately verified Education and experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, embedded systems, or a related technical field 3+ years of experience in software testing, software development, or system integration. ISTQB Foundation or T-Map Certificate is considered a plus Experience with automated testing in complex software systems Experience with Python and/or C++ Experience working in Linux-based development environments Experience analyzing software defects and performing root-cause investigations Familiarity with integration testing, regression testing, and test automation frameworks Experience with continuous integration and automated test pipelines is considered a plus Experience with distributed, embedded, or real-time systems is considered a plus Skills Test automation and scripting (Python preferred), experience with Robot framework Software integration and regression testing Root-cause analysis and debugging Linux-based development and test environments Understanding of distributed and real-time software systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.). Requirements

A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, embedded systems, or a related technical field is required, along with at least three years of experience in software testing, development, or system integration. Candidates should have experience with test automation, Python and/or C++, Linux, integration and regression testing, and defect analysis; ISTQB or T-Map certification and experience with continuous integration or distributed, embedded, or real-time systems are advantageous.
