Ever wondered how artificial intelligence can transform real-time logistics operations? In modern automated warehouses, production controllers lose valuable time clicking through complex microservices, filters, and multi-step menus just to track down carriers, stock items, or system exceptions. This daily friction causes cognitive fatigue and slows down issue resolution. We want to revolutionize this experience by bringing conversational AI straight to the warehouse floor!
In this internship, you will design, develop, and prototype an AI-powered natural language interface integrated into our Warehouse Execution System (WES). You will explore how an intelligent AI orchestrator can instantly fetch multi-service data, resolve naming discrepancies, and simplify daily workflows for operators. If time permits, you can even explore AI feature opportunities to help controllers actively solve operational issues on the fly.
Department description
You will join the team developing the digital suite for warehousing, centered on the warehouse execution system (WES). Our cross-functional teams include UX designers, system architects, and front- and backend developers.
During this initiative, you will be guided by a UX designer and a front-end developer, collaborating closely with peers in an agile, project-driven environment to bring AI innovation into practical warehouse operations.
Tasks/responsibilities
- Conduct user research and workflow analysis to identify pain points in daily WES navigation
- Design and prototype conversational AI interfaces for quick asset and attribute lookup
- Deliver concise and helpful interface results that streamline daily tasks for production controllers
- Explore opportunities to assist production controllers in solving active warehouse issues if time permits
Your profile
- Strong interest in AI, machine learning, and large language models.
- Software development experience with technologies such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex problems into practical solutions
- Curious, proactive, and comfortable experimenting with new technologies and concepts
- *Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands
What we offer
- A monthly internship allowance (based on a 40-hour work week):
Bachelor: €500 per month
Master: €550 per month - Full commuting allowance, including public transport, depending on whether you have access to free public transport or not
