Job Description As a Housekeeping & Breakfast Host you’ll play an important role in both maintaining the cleanliness of the hostel and preparing and managing our daily continental breakfast buffet. This position is primarily focused on housekeeping and breakfast shifts, with positiblities to join other departments such as Reception or Bar once there are openings. There is also an occasional evening shift (1 or 2 per week) to help out during the busy hours. Your main responsibilities will include: Ensuring cleanliness throughout the hostel, including guest rooms and common areas, to uphold our high standards of hygiene and comfort. Setting up and maintaining our buffet breakfast, ensuring that all food and beverages are stocked, fresh, and ready throughout the morning rush. Engaging with guests during breakfast service, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere while assisting with any inquiries or needs they may have. Contributing to the lively atmosphere of the hostel by preparing spaces for hostel events and parties, ensuring common areas are welcoming and well-prepared. Assisting our bartender and evening receptionist with glass collection and maintaining cleanliness in our guest-only bar during evening hours. Requirements EU passport or valid working permit for the Netherlands. Already living in Amsterdam Fluent in English; other languages are a plus. Available ASAP Availability for full-time employment, consisting of 30 to 40 hours per week divided over 5 days. Comfortable working a combination of morning and ocasional evening shift (1 or 2 per week) Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness and hygiene. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively. Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently as well as in a team Previous experience in hospitality or customer service is preferred but not required. Core Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout guest rooms and common areas, and set up and manage the continental breakfast buffet. Welcome and assist guests during breakfast, prepare spaces for events, and support evening bar operations by collecting glasses and keeping the guest bar clean.
Requirements
Applicants must have an EU passport or valid Dutch work permit, already live in Amsterdam, speak fluent English, and be available to start as soon as possible. The role requires availability for 30–40 hours over five days, including morning shifts and one or two occasional evening shifts per week; hospitality or customer-service experience is preferred but not required.

Since 1999 we have spread throughout the UK and Europe to Newquay, Bath, Brighton, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Bruges and Berlin. Paris Canal was our first purpose built hostel and nightclub. The doors opened at the start of 2008. Barcelona in 2012 and our new site, Gare du Nord in Paris opened in August 2013. In 2019, we also opened a second site in Berlin Mitte, a second hostel in Edinburgh Old Town, and a new Belushi’s bar in Edinburgh. In 2022 we proudly opened our newest site in Vienna.
