Job Description

Are you the Creative Technologist who keeps our installations running, from server to sensor? At Fillip Studios we work on impact through wonder. Wonder is the method, impact is the goal. We are a design studio that translates complex stories into interactive experiences you take in with your body. We make abstract ideas tangible, from our home base in Arnhem all the way to Rockefeller Center in New York. That is where Tactile Orchestra stands: a fabric wall that makes music when you stroke it. For cultural pioneers, scientists and brands we open doors where art, design and technology meet. And now we are looking for you. Your role You join our Tech Team, which counts two people. Together you cover the full technical range of our projects: from managing the data streams and the servers our applications and software run on, to experimenting with sensors and building them into permanent physical installations. Your technical knowledge puts your focus on setting up and building software applications, or on deploying software as part of an installation. You know how to put LLMs and AI models to work inside a running system, including locally on our own hardware. You are involved early in the design process. There you work closely with our concept, visual and physical design teams. Together with the Tech Team you set the technical route, and you carry the technical decisions alongside your colleague: what we build ourselves, what we buy in, what fits the budget. Who are we looking for? You have a portfolio that shows you build things that keep working. You are conceptually strong and you feel at home where art and technology slide into each other. You want to know how something works and you keep going until you understand it. You say in good time what will work and what will not. You have experience setting up (full-stack) software and server projects. You know what it takes to move an application into production and keep it online. That includes maintenance, data and security, because we work with participants' data. You will not get a finished plan here that only needs building. Your input shapes the process. You act and adjust from your own expertise. You are curious, you like to get on with things, and you enjoy working together. You know your way around: Software and infrastructure A demonstrable foundation in software development. Deep knowledge of JavaScript and Python. Proven experience setting up and managing infrastructure and servers: VPS, databases, APIs. Knowledge of security in online systems, and care in handling sensitive data. Proven skills in Three.js and React. Experience with LLMs and AI in working applications. Knowledge of Docker and Git is a preference. Hardware and installations C++ for driving hardware. Experience with sensors, microcontrollers and electronics: you get a setup working on your own and you keep it running. And it is a plus if you also know: Creative coding: openFrameworks, Processing, TouchDesigner, Max/MSP. Work in public space or in an exhibition, where installations stay in place for months or years. Experience with AI models that run locally on your own hardware. What do we offer? A key role in the technical foundation of projects that are seen internationally. Room to work with new technology and to put it to use for artistic innovation. A close team of creative professionals, and a colleague in the Tech Team who shares the technical decisions with you. A one-year contract with a view to extension, for 0.8 to 1.0 FTE, starting 1 January 2027. A salary in line with the guidelines of the BNO, the Dutch association of designers (salary scale 3: specialist, indication medior € 3.300 to € 4.415 bruto per month for 40 hours), graded on your experience. Good secondary benefits, including a pension scheme, a personal development budget and an NS Business Card for public transport. Our new studio at Cleantech Park in Arnhem, with a well-equipped workshop and IX lab, set up so visitors can experience our work. Are you up for it? Do you want to put technology to work for stories that move people, connect them and make them think? To make impact through wonder with us? Send your motivation and portfolio to [email protected]. Show us what you have built and how you arrived at those choices. Code is welcome, and so is the explanation. We will invite you to the studio, so you can see and touch what you will be working on. We are looking for this colleague ourselves. Agencies, intermediaries and recruiters need not respond.

About Fillip Studios

Industry: Design Services

Company size: 11-50 employees

Fillip Studios believes in Impact through Wonder. As an interdisciplinary team of artists, designers and engineers, we design Embodied Immersive Experiences that turn complex stories into meaningful connections. We work with cultural pioneers and visionary brands to translate their most complex stories into interactive, sensory experiences that reach people where arguments alone cannot. Our work, ranging from museum exhibitions to interactive brand experiences, can be seen worldwide and always strives to make a positive contribution to society. As pioneers in Embodied Immersive Experience, we know that real understanding lives in the body, not just the mind. When people don’t just read or hear, but get to feel a story, in their body, something shifts that no screen or presentation can replicate. We believe that a single moment of collective wonder can change the way people see the world.
