About This Position The VIMtima consortium is looking for an enthusiastic intern to perform a literature review and landscape analysis on the regulatory requirements and market positioning of the VIMtima-chip. You will work at the cutting edge of science innovation, regulation, and market adoption and obtain valuable insights into the development and implementation of emerging organ-on-chip technologies. In June 2026, the VIMtima project was launched. A 3-year collaborative initiative between leading research organisations, hospitals, technology developers, and women's health companies focused on developing a new laboratory model “The Vaginal Intimate Microenvironment host-microbe interaction Organ-on-Chip” (VIMtima). The VIMtima-chip is an innovative vaginal organ-on-chip platform that enables realistic and human-relevant research into vaginal health and host-microbe interactions. What will be your role? You will investigate Regulatory pathways for organ-on-chip technologies Relevant standards and guidelines for technology validation and acceptance Potential application areas, stakeholders, and market opportunities for the VIMtima-chip You will generate A consolidated report outlining regulatory requirements and market positioning of the VIMtima-chip. This report will serve as the foundation for a strategic roadmap towards scale-up, regulatory acceptance, and future implementation of the technology. What We Expect From You For this internship, we are looking for a student with A background in biomedical sciences, health sciences, regulatory affairs, or a related field. A strong interest in women’s health and regulatory affairs. Experienced in literature review and scientific writing (English), with opportunities to further develop scientific writing and publication skills. Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. Interested in predominantly remote working, with flexibility to work from home for the majority of the week. In possession of a personal laptop for remote work and day-to-day project activities. Having availability in October, November and/or December 2026. The time and length of the internship can be adapted to the needs of the students university requirements. Use of a laptop and the facilities you need to perform your work effectively. A monthly internship allowance of € 615 for a full-time internship, for MSc, BSc and vocational education (MBO) students. Up to eight hours of leave per internship month for a full-time internship, allowing you to balance your internship with your studies and personal life. A contribution towards travel expenses if you are not entitled to a student travel card. If you start an internship with us, we will also ask you to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Important to know before applying Before the start of the internship, an internship agreement must be signed. For students enrolled at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences, TNO uses the UNL-template, supplemented with several TNO‑specific agreements. For students from foreign educational institutions and MBO (secondary vocational education) programmes, the TNO internship agreement applies. TNO does not sign any other internship agreements. Before the start of the internship, the educational institution will need to confirm in writing that you are enrolled at the educational institution for the duration of the internship, and; the internship forms part of your study programme. The confirmation of educational institution takes place by signing the UNL template or forms prepared by TNO. Interns at TNO must have a registered residential address in the Netherlands at the start of the internship. Carrying out internship activities from abroad is not possible. Are you an international student? Please note that you must have a BSN (Dutch citizen service number) before the start of your internship. Applying for a BSN can take several weeks, so make sure to start this process well in advance.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct a literature review and landscape analysis of regulatory pathways, relevant standards, validation requirements, and market opportunities for the VIMtima-chip. Produce a consolidated report on its regulatory requirements and market positioning to inform a strategic roadmap for scale-up, regulatory acceptance, and future implementation.

Requirements

Applicants should be students with a background in biomedical sciences, health sciences, regulatory affairs, or a related field, and a strong interest in women's health and regulatory affairs. They should have experience with literature reviews and scientific writing in English, be proactive and able to work independently, have a personal laptop, and be available in October, November, and/or December 2026.
