Job Description

Turn trends, ideas and craftsmanship into menswear people want to wear. Lijnden, Amsterdam area | Product Design | Fulltime At Just Brands, we build menswear brands with character. PME Legend, Cast Iron and Vanguard each have their own identity, customer and place in the market. Great product starts with strong design. That means understanding our customer, spotting what is happening in the market and translating trends, materials, silhouettes and details into collections that feel both relevant and unmistakably ours. That is where menswear design, trend research, product development and commercial thinking come together. But what really sets us apart is how we work together. We’re team first. No ego, no unnecessary layers and no endless talking. We challenge each other, take ownership and keep pushing the product forward. That’s where you come in. Why this role matters As our Product Designer, you take ownership of the design process for your designated product categories — from first concept and trend direction through technical design, material selection, sampling and final product. You translate seasonal concepts and market insights into strong, commercially relevant menswear collections while protecting the identity of our brands. Working closely with Design, Merchandising, Development and Buying, you make sure creativity, customer relevance, margin, sustainability and production feasibility come together. You are not here just to make things look good. You are here to create product that is right for the brand, right for the customer and ready for the market. What you’ll do Design strong seasonal collections within your designated product categories; Research trends across silhouettes, shapes, details, fabrics and colours and translate them into relevant product opportunities; Use insights from stores, merchandising, sales and the market to keep designs commercially relevant; Create detailed technical drawings, tech packs, specifications and Bills of Materials; Lead design handovers to Development and provide the information needed to start prototype creation; Source and select fabrics, trims and materials in line with the collection framework and design direction; Balance creative direction with feasibility, cost, sustainability and production timelines; Lead sample reviews and fit sessions, giving clear feedback on fit, construction and design details; Work closely with Merchandising and Development on costing, margin and production feasibility; Visit relevant fairs, markets and stores to stay close to trends, innovation and customer developments; Keep Design Leadership informed on status, timing and key decisions; Support and mentor junior designers and interns; Integrate sustainability principles throughout the product lifecycle. What success looks like in your first year Your product categories show a clear, consistent and recognisable brand identity; Seasonal concepts are translated into relevant, commercially strong designs; Design handovers, tech packs and specifications give Development what they need to move efficiently; Materials and design choices balance creativity, quality, cost and production feasibility; Sample reviews and fit sessions result in stronger final products; Merchandising, Development and Buying see you as a strong creative and cross-functional partner; You contribute ideas, market knowledge and guidance that strengthen the wider Design team. What makes this role exciting You influence the product customers ultimately see and wear; You work across the full journey from concept to final product; You combine creativity with commercial thinking and technical product knowledge; You work closely with multiple disciplines across Product; You stay connected to international fashion trends, materials and market developments; You get ownership of your own product categories while contributing to the wider collection; Your decisions have visible impact on the strength and relevance of our menswear collections. You’ll probably love this role if you… naturally follow menswear, product, materials and cultural trends; like turning research and ideas into tangible products; care just as much about construction and detail as the initial creative concept; understand that strong fashion design needs to work commercially too; enjoy working closely with developers, merchandisers and buyers; are comfortable taking ownership and making design decisions; like giving direction and sharing your experience with less experienced designers; want to keep challenging yourself and the product to become better. What you bring An MBO or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design or a related field; At least 5 years of relevant fashion design experience, preferably within retail or the clothing industry; Menswear design experience is required; Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and the product development process; Advanced knowledge of fashion trends, markets and customer preferences; Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturers; Expert-level Adobe Creative Suite skills, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; Strong technical drawing and design-specification skills; Knowledge of sustainability principles within product design and development; Strong communication and collaboration skills; Fluency in English; Dutch is an advantage; The ability to guide and mentor junior designers and interns. What Just Brands is really like We’re team first. In Product, that means sharing ideas, challenging each other and working across disciplines to make the collection stronger. No ego. Just strong opinions backed by product knowledge, open collaboration and people who care about what eventually ends up in the hands of our customer. You’ll join a company where People help each other out; Ideas and people matter more than job titles; Hard work matters, and so does enjoying the ride; If something can be better, we improve it.
