Job Description

About Safetykleen Imagine working for a company where your role actually matters for the planet.🌍 We’re Safetykleen - a world leader with over 50 years’ experience across 15 countries, empowering global businesses to keep their critical operations safer and cleaner. We deliver parts-cleaning solutions that help customers lower energy consumption and operate more responsibly for the environment. We are now seeking a Financial Controller to join our team in Benelux. About the role We are looking for a technically strong, commercially minded Financial Controller to join our growing Benelux Finance team. This is a market that is scaling quickly: we are building processes, strengthening controls and improving how Finance operates, rather than running business as usual. You will act as a strong number two to the Finance Director, taking ownership across financial control, cash collection, reporting and analysis, with real scope to take the initiative and shape how things are done. This is not a Finance Manager role – we are looking for someone who can operate independently and bring technical capability, structure and constructive challenge. What you will be doing · Owning financial controlling for the Benelux business, including month-end close, reconciliations and reporting. · Driving cash collection and working capital performance, with clear reporting and escalation to the Finance Director. · Reviewing performance, explaining variances and translating what happens in the business into the numbers. · Strengthening controls and processes, and identifying where Finance can be simplified, standardised or automated. · Supporting budgeting, forecasting and the annual budget process. · Supporting statutory audit, tax and compliance, working with external advisers and auditors. · Partnering with the wider Benelux leadership team and with Group, and acting as cover for the Finance Director when required. · Investigating accounting and data-quality issues, identifying their root causes and working with the wider business, Group Finance and IT to implement sustainable solutions, while ensuring reporting deadlines continue to be met. What we are looking for · A background in audit with a large accounting firm, ideally to supervisor or junior manager level, plus around two to four years of industry experience. · Strong financial accounting and controlling experience, including month-end, reconciliations, reporting and analysis. · Experience of cash collection and working capital management. · Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and statutory audit processes. · Strong Excel and financial systems capability; experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is a significant advantage. · Analytical, curious and comfortable identifying and mitigating process risk. · Confident engaging and influencing stakeholders, both locally and at Group level. · A genuine self-starter who takes ownership, brings structure and can run projects through to completion. Key competencies · Analytical and problem solving – able to interrogate financial data and turn it into insight. · Communication and business engagement – able to explain how activity in the business translates into the numbers. · Risk awareness – able to identify risk in processes and put controls in place to mitigate it. · Systems and innovation – tech-savvy and confident with finance systems; hands-on experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is a strong advantage in our recently implemented D365 F&O environment. · Data quality and root-cause analysis – comfortable moving from the financial output back through the underlying process and system to understand why an issue has occurred and drive a lasting solution. · Stakeholder management – credible with the local business and at Group level. · Ownership – able to act as back-up to the Finance Director and step in proactively. · Curiosity and a learning mindset. · Project management – able to run Finance projects through to completion. The person You will be someone who: · Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do. · Is comfortable operating with a high degree of independence. · Brings structure and discipline to Finance processes. · Can move between the detail and the bigger commercial picture. · Is confident challenging constructively. · Has the ambition and capability to become a strong second-in-command within Benelux Finance. · Is practical, hands-on and focused on getting things done. Why join us This is a key role in a growing market and a Finance function that is still being built. You will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on control, cash performance, reporting and process improvement, working closely with the Finance Director and the wider business, with clear scope to develop into a strong second-in-command. If you want real ownership and the chance to improve how Finance operates in an international organization, we would like to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities

Own financial control for the Benelux business, including month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, cash collection, working capital, and performance analysis. Strengthen controls and processes, support budgeting, audits, tax and compliance, resolve data-quality issues, and partner with local and Group stakeholders while providing cover for the Finance Director.

Requirements

Candidates should have a large-accounting-firm audit background, ideally at supervisor or junior manager level, and approximately two to four years of industry experience. They should bring strong financial accounting and controlling skills, cash and working-capital experience, budgeting and audit support, strong Excel and finance-systems capability, and the independence and communication skills to influence stakeholders and lead projects.
