Our Architecture team in the Netherlands is growing. We are looking for a Graduate Architect to join our Science, Industry & Technology team in Amsterdam. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of technically demanding projects, including data centres, advanced manufacturing facilities, laboratories, technology campuses and industrial developments. These projects sit at the intersection of architecture, engineering and innovation. They require careful consideration of people, processes, technology and the environment. This direction aligns with the Netherlands Architecture team’s focus on integrated architecture, feasibility, digital design, sustainability and Science, Industry & Technology projects. The Opportunity As a Graduate Architect, you will support our project teams across different stages of design and delivery, from early feasibility studies and design concepts through to technical design and implementation. You will work alongside experienced architects and specialists, developing your understanding of integrated design and technically complex building types. You will contribute ideas, prepare architectural information and participate in multidisciplinary design discussions. The role will allow you to develop both your creative and technical abilities. You will learn how architectural concepts are translated into coordinated and buildable solutions, while considering sustainability, user experience, operational requirements and long-term adaptability. You will receive support through project experience, mentoring and professional development, helping you grow into a confident and well-rounded architect. As a Graduate Architect At Arup, You Will Support architectural projects from feasibility and concept design through to technical delivery. Assist in developing design concepts, spatial strategies and architectural narratives. Prepare architectural drawings, diagrams, presentations, reports and client deliverables. Develop and coordinate BIM models and project information using Revit. Participate in design reviews, workshops and multidisciplinary coordination meetings. Work closely with architects, engineers, sustainability consultants and digital specialists. Support the integration of sustainability, functionality and architectural quality throughout the design process. Assist with the technical coordination of architectural information across different disciplines. Contribute to visual communication and the presentation of design ideas to project teams and clients. Develop your knowledge of Dutch building regulations, planning procedures and industry standards. Contribute to an open design culture through curiosity, collaboration and the sharing of ideas. We Would Particularly Value A completed master’s degree in Architecture, or completion expected shortly before the starting date. Up to three years of relevant professional experience. A strong architectural portfolio demonstrating design thinking and visual communication. Initial experience with Revit and BIM-based workflows. An interest in technically complex buildings and multidisciplinary design. Strong graphic, written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative, organised and proactive approach. A willingness to learn and take responsibility as your experience develops. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Working proficiency in Dutch. Eligibility to work in the Netherlands. The Following Would Be Advantageous Internship, academic or professional experience relating to Science, Industry & Technology. Experience with data centres, manufacturing facilities, laboratories or other technically complex buildings. Knowledge of visualisation, computational design or digital collaboration tools. Core Responsibilities

Support architectural projects from feasibility and concept design through technical delivery, preparing drawings, models, presentations, reports, and client deliverables. Collaborate with architects and multidisciplinary specialists to coordinate design information and integrate sustainability, functionality, and architectural quality.

Requirements

Applicants should have a completed or soon-to-be-completed master's degree in Architecture, up to three years of relevant experience, and a portfolio demonstrating design thinking and visual communication. The role also calls for initial Revit and BIM experience, strong communication and collaboration skills, professional English, working proficiency in Dutch, and eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
