Financial Accountant Location: Netherlands Department: Finance About the Role We are looking for an experienced and highly responsible **Financial Accountant** to take a leading role in the company's finance operations in the Netherlands. The position will be responsible for overseeing daily financial activities, accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal financial controls. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, manage finance-related matters, and provide reliable financial support to management. Key Responsibilities Financial Management * Oversee the company's daily accounting and financial operations. * Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping and financial transactions. * Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense claims, payments, and bank transactions. * Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing. * Establish and improve financial procedures and internal controls. Financial Reporting & Analysis * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. * Prepare management reports and provide financial analysis to management. * Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow. * Analyze budget variances and identify financial risks and opportunities. * Provide financial insights to support management decision-making. Tax & Compliance * Oversee VAT, corporate income tax, and other applicable tax matters in the Netherlands. * Ensure compliance with Dutch accounting and tax regulations. * Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, and other financial institutions. * Prepare financial documentation for audits and tax-related matters. Budget & Cost Control * Lead the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and financial plans. * Monitor departmental expenses and overall company costs. * Analyze actual results against budget and provide explanations for significant variances. * Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and financial controls. Cash Flow & Treasury * Manage daily cash flow and monitor the company's financial position. * Prepare cash flow forecasts and payment plans. * Monitor bank accounts and ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations. * Review and control payments according to company approval procedures. Finance Team & Process Management * Coordinate and supervise the Finance team's daily work. * Allocate finance-related tasks and ensure deadlines are met. * Review and improve accounting and financial processes. * Provide guidance and support to finance team members. * Develop standardized financial procedures and internal controls. Other Responsibilities * Work closely with HR, Administration, Operations, and other departments on financial matters. * Support management with financial analysis and business-related projects. * Identify and resolve financial discrepancies and operational issues. * Perform other finance-related duties as required. Requirements * Bachelor's degree or above in **Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field**. * **5+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience**, preferably with experience in a senior accountant, finance supervisor, finance manager, or similar position. * Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial management. * Good understanding of **Dutch accounting and tax regulations**, including VAT. * Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and cost control. * Experience coordinating or supervising finance team members. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. * Strong organizational and communication skills. * Ability to work independently and take ownership of financial matters. * **Fluent English is required; Dutch language skills are a strong advantage.** What We Offer * A key finance position within a growing international company in the Netherlands. * A broad scope of responsibilities with significant autonomy. * An international and professional working environment.

Core Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting and finance operations, including financial close, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, tax compliance, and internal controls. Coordinate the finance team and work with management and other departments to provide financial analysis, improve processes, and support business decisions.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant finance and accounting experience. Candidates should know Dutch accounting and tax regulations, have experience with reporting, budgeting, cash flow, cost control, and team coordination, and be proficient in Excel and accounting or ERP systems; fluent English is required, while Dutch is an advantage.
