As our Architecture team continues to grow in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Senior Architect to help lead the development and delivery of our Science, Industry & Technology portfolio. Our work may include advanced manufacturing facilities, data centres, laboratories, industrial buildings and technology campuses. These projects require a deep understanding of architectural design, complex technical systems, operational processes and multidisciplinary coordination. We are looking for a design-led architect who can establish a clear architectural vision, inspire project teams and guide projects through complex technical and commercial environments. You will champion design excellence while ensuring that architectural ambition is translated into coordinated, buildable and sustainable outcomes. This role will also contribute to the growth of the Netherlands Architecture practice, reflecting the team’s strategic focus on developing its Science, Industry & Technology expertise, multidisciplinary offering and market position. The Opportunity This is a senior role within a growing and ambitious architecture team. You will lead complex architectural projects and work closely with clients, project directors and multidisciplinary teams from early strategy and feasibility through to technical delivery. You will provide architectural direction, manage key project relationships and ensure that design quality is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. You will use your experience to navigate competing requirements, resolve complex interfaces and enable project teams to make clear and well-informed design decisions. A key part of the role will be leading BIM-enabled and Revit-based project delivery. You will provide oversight of architectural information and multidisciplinary digital coordination, ensuring that BIM processes support the design intent, technical quality and efficient delivery of the project. Beyond individual projects, you will help strengthen our architectural design culture through mentoring, design reviews and knowledge sharing. You will also support client development, proposals and the continued growth of Arup’s Science, Industry & Technology portfolio in the Netherlands and internationally. As a Senior Architect At Arup, You Will Lead architectural and multidisciplinary project teams from early concept through to technical delivery. Establish and communicate a clear architectural vision for complex projects. Champion design excellence and maintain architectural quality throughout the project lifecycle. Lead design reviews, workshops, presentations and key project decisions. Develop strong and trusted relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders. Translate complex operational and technical requirements into coherent architectural strategies. Direct architectural teams and coordinate resources, responsibilities and project deliverables. Oversee planning, design, technical and regulatory coordination. Provide technical leadership and support the resolution of complex multidisciplinary interfaces. Provide oversight of BIM and digital delivery strategies across projects. Guide architectural and multidisciplinary coordination within Revit and BIM environments. Review BIM models and architectural information for design quality, coordination and completeness. Promote consistent digital workflows, information-management principles and model-based quality assurance. Work with BIM and information-management specialists to establish appropriate project standards and delivery processes. Balance design ambition with sustainability, programme, cost, buildability and operational requirements. Support proposal development, bids, interviews and business-development activities. Contribute to the growth of client relationships and the Science, Industry & Technology portfolio. Mentor architects across different grades and support their professional development. Build a strong design culture within the Netherlands Architecture team through reviews, dialogue and knowledge sharing. Contribute to the strategic development and visibility of Arup’s Architecture practice in the Netherlands. Does this role inspire you? We are looking for an experienced architect who combines design leadership, technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. You should be confident leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients, while remaining actively involved in architectural design and digital delivery. We Would Particularly Value A master’s degree in Architecture. A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience. A strong architectural portfolio demonstrating leadership of complex projects. Proven experience leading projects across multiple design and delivery stages. Strong design leadership and the ability to communicate an architectural vision. Significant experience with BIM-enabled project delivery. A strong understanding of Revit and multidisciplinary digital-coordination workflows. The ability to provide senior oversight of BIM models, architectural information and digital quality processes. Experience directing architectural teams and coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces. Strong client-facing, presentation and stakeholder-management skills. Commercial awareness and an understanding of project scope, programme, resources and risk. An ability to mentor colleagues and support the development of successful teams. Knowledge of Dutch planning, permitting and building-regulation processes. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Working proficiency in Dutch. Eligibility to work in the Netherlands. The Following Would Be Advantageous Registration as an architect in the Netherlands or another recognised jurisdiction. Experience within Science, Industry & Technology sectors. Senior project experience with data centres, laboratories, advanced manufacturing facilities, technology campuses or industrial buildings. Experience developing BIM execution strategies or leading model-based multidisciplinary coordination. Experience with information management, computational design or data-led design processes. Experience working on international projects and with geographically distributed teams. Experience supporting bids, client development or sector growth. German language skills. Requirements

Candidates should have a master’s degree in Architecture, at least ten years of relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and proven leadership of complex projects across design and delivery stages. They should bring substantial BIM and Revit experience, strong client and team leadership skills, knowledge of Dutch planning and building regulations, professional English, working Dutch, and eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
