Role Description The Health Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Wageningen. The position is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs within the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies. Day-to-day activities include conducting workplace inspections, assessing health risks, and advising departments on preventive and corrective measures. The Health Officer collaborates with management and staff to promote healthy work practices, delivers training and awareness sessions, and maintains accurate documentation of health and safety incidents and interventions. The role also involves coordinating with external health and safety authorities as needed and contributing to continuous improvement of organizational health standards. Qualifications Strong knowledge and practical experience in Occupational Health, including risk assessment and preventive health programs. Competence in Community Health, with the ability to design and support health promotion initiatives for staff and stakeholders. Effective Communication skills, with the ability to convey health and safety information clearly to diverse audiences. Experience in Workplace Safety, including development and implementation of safety protocols, audits, and incident follow-up. Familiarity with Construction Safety principles, particularly in environments involving maintenance, renovation, or construction activities. Relevant academic background in public health, occupational health, safety management, or a related field. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate sound judgment in health-related decision-making. Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and standards, and commitment to continuous professional development.

Core Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and monitor organizational health and safety programs, including workplace inspections, risk assessments, training, and incident documentation. Advise departments on preventive and corrective measures, coordinate with external authorities, and support continuous improvement of health standards.

Requirements

Requires practical occupational health experience, knowledge of risk assessment and preventive health programs, and competence in community health, workplace safety, and construction safety. A relevant academic background, knowledge of applicable regulations, effective communication, collaborative ability, and sound health-related judgment are also expected.
