Role Description The Assistant Cook role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hilversum. The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team in preparing menu items, completing basic cooking tasks, and ensuring that dishes are plated according to restaurant standards. Daily responsibilities include food preparation, organizing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, and assisting with stock rotation and inventory. The role also involves following food safety guidelines, supporting senior cooks during peak service times, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations. The position requires consistent punctuality, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Ability to perform basic cooking and food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, measuring, and following recipes. Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with chefs, servers, and other staff in a busy kitchen. Capacity to work standing for extended periods, handle moderate physical tasks, and adapt to changing priorities during service. Previous experience in a restaurant or professional kitchen environment is preferred but not required; culinary training is an advantage. Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions accurately while showing initiative when appropriate. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed by the restaurant.
