🚀 Senior Test Automation Engineer – Java | Robot Framework | SAFe 📍 Location: Apeldoorn, Netherlands 📅 Start date: 11 October 2026 ⏳ Apply before: 29 September 2026 💼 Environment: Agile / SAFe | Enterprise-scale IT We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer with a strong affinity for Java programming to join a multidisciplinary Scrum team working within a complex, large-scale IT environment. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated tests and contributing to the quality and continuity of backend Java applications. The environment combines established enterprise systems with newer applications and an increasing focus on DevOps and CI/CD. What you'll be working with: • Test automation using Robot Framework and JMeter • Backend applications built with Java 8, 17 & 21 • Java EE / Jakarta EE • OpenShift & Liberty • Camunda-based process automation • CI/CD with Tekton, Argo CD & Jenkins • IntelliJ & Visual Studio Code • Agile/Scrum within a SAFe environment Must-have experience: • HBO-level qualification • Minimum 5 years' experience with Java 8/17 and JEE • Strong hands-on background in testing and test automation • Experience with Java, SQL, JDBC, JPA, MQ, XML, REST web services and SOAP • Strong T-shaped Test/Test Automation profile • Experience with Robot Framework • Strong understanding of Scrum and SAFe Nice to have: • JMeter and Splunk • Camunda • Jira & Confluence • IntelliJ and Visual Studio Code • Experience within complex Dutch government/public-sector IT landscapes

Core Responsibilities

Develop and maintain automated tests for backend Java applications using Robot Framework and other testing tools. Contribute to the quality and continuity of applications in a complex enterprise environment, working within a multidisciplinary Scrum team.

Requirements

Requires an HBO-level qualification, at least five years of experience with Java 8/17 and JEE, and strong hands-on testing and test automation experience. Candidates should have experience with Java, SQL, JDBC, JPA, MQ, XML, REST and SOAP, Robot Framework, and Scrum and SAFe.
