The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety management framework across a diverse portfolio of operations located throughout Africa and Asia. As the organisation's lead safety specialist, you will provide both strategic direction and hands-on operational support. You will work closely with executive leadership, operational management teams, and site personnel to strengthen safety performance, improve risk management practices, and embed a proactive safety culture. This is predominantly a field-based position. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent travelling to operational sites across Africa and Asia, conducting site visits, audits, inspections, and leadership engagement activities. The remaining 30% will focus on strategic initiatives, reporting, governance, and stakeholder management from the Netherlands. Key Responsibilities Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems across multiple operations and geographies. Conduct site audits, inspections, and operational assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risk. Support investment and project teams through safety due diligence and risk review activities. Develop and standardise safety policies, procedures, and operational standards. Drive incident investigation and root cause analysis processes. Partner with senior leaders to improve safety performance and strengthen accountability. Deliver safety leadership workshops, training programmes, and culture initiatives. Monitor and communicate safety performance trends to senior stakeholders and leadership teams. Support the development of consistent risk management and contractor management practices across the portfolio. What We're Looking For 8+ years of hands-on HSE experience within high-hazard or operational environments. Experience working across multiple sites, business units, or international locations. Strong knowledge of safety management systems, auditing, contractor management, and operational risk controls. Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH, CSP, or equivalent. A practical, hands-on approach with a passion for driving safety improvement in the field. Previous experience supporting operations in emerging markets would be advantageous. Why Apply?
