NTT DATA is looking for a freelance Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot) for one of our clients in Amsterdam. Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid) 6-Month Contract (Extension Possible) Onsite 2-3 Days per Week Start Date: ASAP About the Opportunity We're hiring multiple Backend Engineers for a large-scale technology program focused on building highly scalable, customer-facing products. This role is best suited for engineers with strong Java development experience who enjoy designing microservices, building distributed systems, and delivering reliable backend services at scale. You'll work alongside product and engineering teams to develop solutions used by a significant user base. Core Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services, scalable APIs, and microservices, while building reliable distributed and cloud-native systems. Support production reliability, contribute to system design, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and improve performance and scalability.

Requirements

Requires strong Java and Spring Boot experience, experience designing microservices, and familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and distributed systems. Candidates should have strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering customer-facing products with measurable outcomes; Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and regulated-industry experience are advantageous.
