NTT DATA is looking for a freelance Full Stack Engineer (Java + React) for an international client in Amsterdam. Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid) 6-Month Contract (Extension Possible) Onsite 2-3 Days per Week Start Date: ASAP About the Opportunity We're looking for experienced Full Stack Engineers to join a large-scale technology program for a leading digital business. This is a freelance contract opportunity where you'll contribute to customer-facing products used by a large international user base. You'll work in modern engineering teams building scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud technologies, and React on the frontend. While this is a Full Stack role, strong backend engineering capabilities are essential. Your role: Build and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot Develop modern frontend applications using React.js Design and build APIs and microservices Contribute to customer-facing features and platform improvements Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code Participate in design discussions and technical decision-making Support deployments, monitoring, and production operations Contribute to continuous delivery and engineering best practices Required Skills Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot Experience building microservices and distributed systems Commercial React.js experience Experience building customer-facing applications Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases Understanding of scalable architectures Experience working in Agile environments Strong communication skills Ability to demonstrate measurable project impact Nice to Have Kafka or event-driven architectures AWS Docker Kubernetes GitLab CI/CD Experience supporting high-traffic applications FinTech, Payments, Banking, or regulated industry experience What We're Looking For We value engineers who can clearly demonstrate: ✅ Ownership of features from design through production ✅ Experience building scalable customer-facing platforms ✅ Business impact, such as: Performance improvements Reliability improvements Platform scalability Improved customer experience Automation initiatives

Core Responsibilities

Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, microservices, and customer-facing frontend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React. Collaborate with product, engineering, and architecture teams on design and technical decisions, while supporting testing, deployments, monitoring, production operations, and continuous delivery.

Requirements

Candidates should have strong Java and Spring Boot experience, commercial React experience, and a background building microservices, distributed systems, and customer-facing applications. They should understand SQL and/or NoSQL databases, scalable architectures, and Agile practices, and be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate measurable project impact.
