About The Role This opportunity relates to two separate positions supporting different regions: India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA) and Europe (EUR). As Senior Legal Counsel – Projects, you will join APM Terminals’ global legal team and support the delivery of strategic investment, development, and infrastructure projects across your assigned region. Acting as a trusted legal business partner to the Business Implementation Management (BIM) and Corporate Development (CDV) teams, you will provide legal support throughout the full project lifecycle, from investment origination and execution through construction, development, and operational readiness. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will help facilitate business growth while protecting APM Terminals’ interests, values, and reputation. You will combine strong commercial judgment with practical risk management to support complex infrastructure and investment projects in a dynamic international environment. The role reports to the General Counsel, IMEA or the Head of Legal – Projects, EUR, depending on the region supported. Both positions are based in The Hague Key Responsibilities Act as a trusted legal advisor to the Business Implementation Management and Regional Investments teams, providing legal support on infrastructure investment and development projects across the region. Support the investment phase of projects, including concession tenders, concession extensions, joint ventures, and other strategic infrastructure investments. Provide legal support during the implementation of new concessions and terminal expansion projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments. Draft, review, negotiate, and manage EPC contracts, construction agreements, concession-related documentation, and agreements with partners, counterparties, and governmental authorities. Advise project teams on legal and commercial risks relating to project delivery, including delays, variations, performance security, defects liability, construction claims, and dispute avoidance. Collaborate closely with regional legal teams, headquarters legal functions, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and external legal counsel to deliver practical and commercially focused legal support. Promote the use of APM Terminals’ contract templates and risk policies while providing guidance and training on relevant legal topics. Qualified lawyer from a recognised jurisdiction with a minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally combining international law firm and multinational in-house experience. Strong experience supporting international infrastructure, investment, construction, and complex cross-border joint venture projects. Deep expertise in construction law, EPC contracting, construction claims, and FIDIC-based contracts. Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and manage complex commercial and project agreements across multiple jurisdictions. Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of the financial aspects of infrastructure investments. Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice. High proficiency in written and spoken English; additional European languages are advantageous. Comfortable exercising sound legal judgment, taking ownership of legal risk decisions, and working effectively across diverse cultures and geographies. Interested? Core Responsibilities

Provide legal advice throughout the lifecycle of regional infrastructure investments, concessions, joint ventures, and terminal development projects. Draft and negotiate project and construction agreements, advise on delivery risks and disputes, and collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to protect the company’s interests.

Requirements

Applicants must be qualified lawyers with at least eight years of relevant experience, ideally combining international law firm and multinational in-house work. They should bring strong expertise in infrastructure and construction projects, EPC and FIDIC contracts, complex negotiations, commercial risk, and cross-cultural stakeholder management; excellent English is required.
