First published date: 04/09/2026 Data & Analytics focuses on building and operating global data and analytics solutions as well as providing directives on compliant and efficient processing of enterprise data. The objective of the architecture department is to ensure that business strategy, IT strategy and implementations are aligned on an ongoing basis considering applicable technology approaches, solutions, good practices, risk appetite and cost targets. Main Activities Are Creating the designs of data & analytics components and processes, specifically: Practices and frameworks Vendor and technology solutions/services architecture Technology implementation approach Providing global advisory on design and implementation matters Advisory role in data & analytics programs Advisory role in data processing standards Writing vision/position papers Key Responsibilities Architecture artefacts lead and delivery Formulating and testing hypotheses and drawing conclusions to determine appropriate data & analytics solutions/services for ING in a global perspective Designing global data & analytics platform components ensuring the optimal match between technology, fit-to-infrastructure (feasibility of deployment), costs, user acceptance, measurability, and flexibility/scalability together with a virtual team of architects and engineers Maintaining and updating the global strategy for data & analytics taking relevant (technological, organisational) changes into consideration as well as keeping pace with innovations and trends in the industry/market Communication and verification Presenting and delivering verbal and written messages to other architects within ING, senior specialists and senior executive management Defining and presenting final solution and impact on the organisation, and sustaining the rationale for the solution/service Organising and providing trainings, workshops, video conferences and working with international (virtual) teams on the topic of data & analytics architecture Building and maintaining a sustainable network of specialists inside and outside ING Intellectual capital & knowledge sharing Initiating and leading knowledge sharing activities Keeping professional knowledge up-to-date and translating external innovations and trends into useable information Requirements Fluent in conceptual aspects of data & analytics, specifically on: Data & analytics architecture practices and frameworks Database design (RDBMS, SQL and NoSQL) Google BigQuery and VertexAI Background in computer science or mathematics/physics At least 10 years of professional experience in the field of IT, and at least 5 years in the field of data & analytics Furthermore, the following personal profile: Ability to take ownership and responsibility Expertise and demonstrated track-record in driving and steering multidisciplinary teams Excellent analytical skills and clear way of expressing abstract concepts Experience in producing and presenting architectures on a conceptual and logical level Experience in effective communication on senior management level Excellent writing & reporting skills in English Determination to continuously develop your (technical) expertise and knowledge Willingness to travel (up to 10%, mainly in Europe) Rewards And Benefits We want to make sure that it’s possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life. Core Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of global data and analytics architecture, including platform components, technology approaches, and architecture artefacts that balance feasibility, cost, user acceptance, scalability, and flexibility. Maintain the global data and analytics strategy, advise programs and stakeholders, present and defend solution decisions, and lead knowledge-sharing activities with international teams.
Requirements
Requires at least 10 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years in data and analytics, with expertise in architecture practices and frameworks, database design, RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL, Google BigQuery, and Vertex AI. A background in computer science, mathematics, or physics is required, along with demonstrated multidisciplinary team leadership, strong analytical and communication skills, architecture presentation experience, and willingness to travel up to 10% mainly in Europe.
