Job Description: Test Engineer – Global Service Growth Team (GSGT)

Position Summary
The Test Engineer on the Global Service Growth Team (GSGT) is responsible for developing, standardizing, and optimizing electrical and functional test methods used within global service operations. This role enables improved throughput, accuracy, and consistency across repair, calibration, and diagnostic processes. The Test Engineer collaborates closely with metrology, manufacturing engineering, quality, and IT to ensure test systems, instrumentation, and automated workflows support world‑class service performance and alignment with FBS practices.

Key Responsibilities

Test System Development & Optimization

• Design, develop, and refine electrical, functional, and automated test methods for service workflows.
• Evaluate existing test processes for repeatability, accuracy, and cycle time; implement engineered improvements.
• Develop test system specifications, including instrumentation, signal paths, measurement limits, and testing logic.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical or system-level test issues and implement robust corrective actions.‑level test issues and implement robust corrective actions.

Instrumentation & Metrology Integration

• Ensure test processes adhere to metrology best practices, including traceability, uncertainty considerations, measurement system integrity, and calibration alignment.
• Partner with Metrology teams to harmonize test setups with calibration requirements and ensure measurement confidence across global service sites.
• Support measurement method validation (MMV) and gage R\&R studies where applicable.

Automation & Digital Test Workflow Support

• Collaborate with automation and IT engineering to integrate test steps into automated or semi‑automated workflows.
• Optimize automated test sequences through improved logic flow, instrumentation selection, or software changes.
• Support integration of test data into digital systems and dashboards for visibility, troubleshooting, and analysis.

FBS Coaching & Lean Execution

• Coach teams on application of FBS principles to test processes, including standardized work, visual management, root-cause analysis, and daily management.
• Lead or participate in kaizen events focused on reducing test cycle time, improving repeatability, or eliminating variation.

Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration

• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers on fixture design, instrumentation integration, and combined mechanical-electrical process improvements.
• Work with Quality Engineering on product and process issues, defect reduction, test escapes, and test coverage improvements.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert on test system readiness during global equipment transfers or new service capability deployments.

Project & Site Enablement

• Support global deployment of standardized test processes, ensuring thorough documentation, training materials, and site readiness.
• Assist with test system procurement, configuration, and commissioning for new service sites or major capability expansions.
• Contribute as an individual contributor on broader service transformation initiatives, aligned with GSGT priorities.

Qualifications

(Adjustable to internal HR standards as needed)

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a similar technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in test engineering, electrical engineering, product support engineering, or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical measurement principles, instrumentation, and test system design.
• Familiarity with metrology concepts such as traceability, measurement uncertainty, and calibration processes.
• Experience with automated test systems (ATE), test sequencing software, data acquisition, or LabVIEW/Python/C# is a plus.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing/FBS practices, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system-level issues and collaborate across mechanical, software, metrology, and quality teams.
• Effective communicator capable of influencing global and cross functional stakeholders ‑ functional stakeholders.
