Become a Maintenance Engineer at Alfen and help shape the future of Energy Storage! Develop and implement maintenance strategies, improve system availability and reliability, and help continuously improve the performance of our Battery Energy Storage Systems. What will you be doing? As a Maintenance Engineer, you play a key role in developing and implementing the maintenance strategy for Alfen’s Battery Energy Storage Systems. Your focus is on improving system availability, limiting unexpected downtime, and ensuring that our maintenance approach continues to evolve as our installed base grows. You use technical knowledge, operational data, and field experience to identify improvement opportunities and translate them into practical maintenance activities, plans, and standards. This includes supporting preventive and condition-based maintenance approaches and continuously improving the way maintenance is prepared and executed. You work closely with Service teams and other functions such as R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality. You take ownership of maintenance-related topics within your scope and help translate lessons learned and operational needs into sustainable improvements. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Strategy & Implementation Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies for Alfen’s Battery Energy Storage Systems. Define required maintenance activities, intervals, resource requirements, and supporting documentation. Ensure maintenance planning considers system requirements, operational needs, and contractual maintenance requirements. Data & Maintenance Optimization Use operational and maintenance data to identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and availability. Support the development of preventive and condition-based maintenance approaches. Identify maintenance-related spare-parts requirements to support optimal system availability. Maintenance Standards & Continuous Improvement Review and improve maintenance and inspection templates, procedures, technical documentation, and drawings. Translate field experience, product changes, and lessons learned into practical maintenance improvements. Support the implementation and rollout of updated maintenance practices across the Service organization. Service & Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Service, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, suppliers, and other stakeholders to achieve effective maintenance solutions. Support root cause analyses where required and translate relevant findings into maintenance improvements. Provide technical guidance and support to Service Technicians and contribute to service and maintenance activities where required. Ownership & Operational Support Take ownership of assigned maintenance topics from analysis and alignment through implementation and follow-up. Contribute proactively to departmental objectives and improvement initiatives. Participate in breakdown and on-call/standby services where applicable and work in accordance with relevant QHSE requirements. What do we expect from you? We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer who combines technical expertise with a structured and hands-on approach. You take ownership of your topics, communicate effectively across technical and operational teams, and translate maintenance challenges into practical solutions. You Bring A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a comparable technical field. At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably within an international technical environment. Knowledge of and experience in a technical environment. Experience with MS Office and ERP systems, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, with a proactive and decisive approach. Good command of Dutch, English and/or German, both spoken and written. VCA VOL certification, or an internationally recognized equivalent. Knowledge of NEN 3840 and/or NEN 3141. What do we offer? Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a comparable technical field, plus at least five years of relevant experience. Candidates should have technical-environment experience, be able to interpret technical drawings and use MS Office and ERP systems, communicate effectively, and hold VCA VOL or an equivalent certification; knowledge of NEN 3840 and/or NEN 3141 is also requested.
