Department: Aftersales Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands Employment Type: Full-time Reports to: Aftersales Manager Job Summary We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Aftersales Mechanical Engineer to join our automotive aftersales team in Rotterdam. The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle mechanical inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, ensuring that vehicles are maintained and repaired according to manufacturer standards, safety requirements and company procedures. Key Responsibilities Vehicle Inspection & Diagnosis Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and mechanical diagnostics. Identify mechanical faults and determine appropriate repair solutions. Inspect vehicle engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering and other mechanical components. Diagnose abnormal vehicle noises, vibrations, leaks and mechanical failures. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and vehicle quality checks. Maintenance & Repair Perform routine vehicle maintenance and mechanical servicing. Repair, replace and adjust mechanical components when required. Carry out repairs on braking, suspension, steering, cooling and other vehicle systems. Perform wheel, tyre and mechanical component inspections. Ensure all repair and maintenance work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards. Conduct final inspections and functional tests after completing repairs. Technical Support Provide technical support to the Aftersales Manager and service team. Explain technical problems and repair requirements clearly to colleagues and customers when required. Assist with complex mechanical troubleshooting and technical cases. Identify recurring technical problems and report them to the Aftersales Manager. Support warranty inspections and technical assessments when required. Workshop Operations Use workshop tools, lifting equipment and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly. Maintain workshop equipment and ensure tools are kept in good working condition. Keep the workshop clean, organized and compliant with health and safety requirements. Record repair and maintenance activities accurately in company systems. Ensure assigned jobs are completed efficiently and within agreed timelines. Follow manufacturer repair standards and company safety procedures. Requirements Relevant technical education or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology or a related field. Previous experience as an automotive mechanic, automotive technician, mechanical engineer or similar position. Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems. Practical experience with vehicle inspection, maintenance and mechanical repair. Good understanding of engines, transmission, suspension, steering and braking systems. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and understand technical documentation and repair instructions. Experience with electric vehicles is an advantage. EV/high-voltage training or certification is an advantage. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Core Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles, including conducting pre-delivery inspections and final functional tests in accordance with manufacturer standards and safety procedures. Provide technical support to the aftersales team, document work accurately, and maintain safe, organized workshop operations.
Requirements
Requires relevant vocational or technical education in mechanical or automotive engineering or a related field, along with prior automotive mechanic, technician, or similar experience. Candidates need strong knowledge of vehicle systems, practical inspection and repair skills, Dutch and English proficiency, and a valid driving licence; electric vehicle and high-voltage experience are advantageous.
