Project manager for integrated mobility challenges - Senior Transport Planner Are you ready to help tackle complex mobility challenges and grow our Transport Planning team in the Netherlands? As a Senior Transport Planner, you will help clients respond to some of today’s most pressing mobility challenges — from area development, public transport, stations and hubs to active and smart mobility. You will lead multidisciplinary projects, advise public and private sector clients, and play a key role in developing new opportunities and long-term client relationships. The opportunity You will work on some of the most complex mobility and accessibility challenges in the Netherlands and internationally. Working alongside transport planners, engineers, urban designers, architects and data analysts, you will contribute to projects that directly influence the liveability and accessibility of cities and regions. You will take a leading role in multidisciplinary projects where mobility, urban development and infrastructure meet. This could include projects such as Zuidasdok, MIRT exploratory studies for new public transport connections, and accessibility and traffic management challenges for Rijkswaterstaat during major renovation and infrastructure programmes. Alongside your technical advisory work, you will lead projects, strengthen client relationships and help shape the continued growth of our Transport Planning team. As a Senior Transport Planner At Arup, You Will Lead mobility studies and advisory projects, from shaping the client brief and research approach through to delivering and presenting clear, practical advice Manage multidisciplinary project teams including transport planners, engineers, urban designers, architects and data analysts Advise public and private clients on accessibility, sustainable mobility and the spatial integration of mobility solutions. Develop new opportunities and client relationships by spotting market trends, understanding client needs and writing compelling proposals. Safeguard project quality, programme and finances, in line with the responsibilities of a senior project manager. Coach junior and intermediate colleagues and actively share knowledge across our Dutch and international teams. What will you bring? You are an experienced consultant or project manager who enjoys working on complex mobility challenges and bringing people, disciplines and interests together. You are comfortable in an international environment and keen to take responsibility for projects, clients and colleagues. You Will Bring You have experience as a consultant, project leader or project manager in transport, mobility or infrastructure. The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and engage clients and colleagues with a clear vision and approach. A strong balance of technical expertise, collaborative working, client focus and delivery mindset. You have excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English. You bring a relevant network and have the ambition to develop it further. Demonstrable expertise in one or more of the following areas: Planning studies: Mobility strategies, MIRT exploratory studies, area development, transport modelling and digital twins to inform policy decisions on sustainable mobility. Active mobility: Pedestrian flow analysis, cycle-friendly area development and strategies that make walking and cycling safer and more attractive. Public transport, stations and hubs: Station development, public transport feasibility and exploratory studies, passenger flow analysis and integrated mobility hubs. Smart mobility: Innovative mobility concepts, including pay-per-use road pricing, HGV levies and shared mobility, as well as traffic and accessibility plans for major infrastructure programmes. Core Responsibilities

Lead transport and mobility studies and multidisciplinary projects, advising public and private clients on accessibility, sustainable mobility, and the integration of transport with urban development. Develop client relationships and new business opportunities, oversee project quality, schedules, and finances, and coach colleagues.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience as a consultant, project leader, or project manager in transport, mobility, or infrastructure, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and engage clients. They should have strong technical, collaborative, client-focused, and delivery skills, excellent Dutch and English communication skills, a relevant professional network, and expertise in at least one listed mobility area.
