Job Description

In a nutshell

As part of the Communications & Engagement Team, you contribute to an engaging and inspiring work environment in which our team of 20,000+ employees and 500+ team leads can get the best out of themselves. You’ll play a key role in developing and executing communication strategies for internal projects and employee initiatives, while managing the internal communication calendar around Picnic’s mission and values. Together with your colleagues from the International Communications & Engagement team, you will work towards our ultimate goal: making Picnic the best place to work for our employees!

Tricks of the trade

  • Strategic project communication: Develop clear, structured messaging for complex internal communications and company-wide initiatives that impact our organization at scale.

  • Campaign and content production: Plan and run exciting campaigns that help us reach our business goals. Whether it is about safety awareness or getting more employees to complete our annual satisfaction survey, you’ll craft and share internal content to keep everyone informed and connected to Picnic.

  • Audience-first communication: Translate complex messages into understandable and engaging content, tailored to specific internal audiences across all levels.

  • Employee engagement enhancement: Help boost employee satisfaction and keep everyone engaged by making our internal communications clear, fun, and effective. You’ll make sure everyone is proud to be a part of Picnic.

  • Channel optimization: Improve the effectiveness of our communication channels,  from Slack, PicnicTV to our internal employee app. Your job is to make sure messages actually get through and make an impact, so everyone stays engaged.

  • Stakeholder collaboration: Team up with stakeholders like the People, Fulfillment, Distribution, or Safety teams. You maintain a structured feedback loop to ensure communication is relevant and well-received.

About you

  • Finished a Bachelor or Master’s degree (preferably in Communication, Communication Sciences, Journalism or similar).

  • Brings 3-6 years of relevant professional experience in internal communication, copywriting, or employer branding.

  • Is fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. Basic knowledge of German and/or French is a plus.

  • Enjoys managing multiple communication projects simultaneously and is energized by clear planning, structure, and execution.

  • Is experienced with digital communications and diverse target audiences.

  • Has strong organizational skills and thrives in a structured environment. You like it when communication flows logically and efficiently.

  • Is a natural storyteller and copywriter: you can translate strategic goals into compelling narratives.

  • Feels enthusiastic about the impact of (change) communications and employee communication in shaping company culture and employee engagement.

  • Gets excited by the idea of helping people feel connected to our mission, their teams, and their own potential.

About Picnic

Industry: Retail

Company size: 5,001-10,000 employees

At Picnic, we’re a team of inventors, builders, dreamers, and best-in-class operators! With our app-only business model and custom-built in-house supply chain, we're revolutionizing the way people buy groceries and eat every day. We're growing across the Netherlands, Germany, France, and beyond. One of the things that makes Picnic different is that we handle almost everything ourselves: from forecasting and building automated warehouses to designing custom electric vehicles and writing our own software. It gives us total freedom to experiment with bold, new ideas (which we do a lot!). We love to challenge ourselves and learn by doing. The best way to grow here? By taking ownership from day one and pushing boundaries every single day. As a diverse team of over 85 nationalities, there’s always something happening - whether you’re into sports, board games, charity work, dancing at our legendary Picnic festival, or licorice tasting (yes, really!). Our scale-up culture means you get to own your work and bring fresh ideas to life. If you’re looking to make a real impact, reach out. We’d love to hear from you!
