Will you help build the future as a Research Engineer in the structural and mechanical field? What will you do? As a Research Engineer, you will play a key role within our European Research, Testing & Certification team. You will translate complex mechanical issues through research, standards, and theoretical substantiation into input for innovative product improvements and our software tools. Tasks and responsibilities Research: Research projects, (inter)national standards studies, and numerical simulations to support technical decision-making. Analyze & test: You perform mechanical load testing in combination with FEM simulations to evaluate technical robustness, validate product performance and support development products and calculation tools. Verification, validation, and assurance: You review and verify test plans and methods against standards and regulations (e.g., Eurocodes). Translate knowledge: You convert research findings, complex calculation methods and relevant standards into pratical test specifications and user-friendly software tools. Networking & Innovating: You build an internal and external knowledge network and share this within the globally operating Enstall Group. Reporting: You write clear research reports and actively share knowledge with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners to strengthen technical expertise. Who are you? Education: A completed Master's degree (WO) in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar technical field. Experience: 3 to 5 years of work experience in an engineering role, preferably within a structural or mechanical engineering work environment. Or candidates with a relevant strong technical background and the ambition to grow into this role are also encouraged to apply. Skills: Experience with research, statistical analyses, technical calculations, and knowledge of standards such as Eurocodes. Familiar with software like SolidWorks, Abaqus, Python, and Ansys. You communicate in Dutch and/or English. Personality: An analytical team player, curious with research, who dares to make proactive choices and acts as a full-fledged sparring partner. Collaboration: You work closely with the Design Validation Engineer, Product Owners, Development Engineers, and Research/Test Engineers. You report to the Head of Research, Testing & Certification.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct research, standards reviews, numerical simulations, and mechanical load testing to assess product robustness and support technical decisions. Verify test methods against standards, translate findings into product improvements and software tools, and share results through reports and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Requirements

A master's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical field is required, along with 3–5 years of engineering experience preferred. Candidates should have experience with research, statistical analysis, technical calculations, and standards such as Eurocodes, and familiarity with SolidWorks, Abaqus, Python, or Ansys; Dutch and/or English communication skills are required.
