The client is seeking a Packaging Compliance Specialist to join its Global Packaging Development Team based in Wageningen, Netherlands. In this role, you will ensure that packaging materials comply with applicable food contact, safety, and packaging regulations across global markets. Working closely with Packaging Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Supplier Quality Management, and external stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance on packaging compliance and support the safe introduction of packaging materials worldwide. This is a temporary position created to support increased workload and provide additional capacity within the Packaging Food Compliance team. The assignment is expected to run from September through December, with potential extension subject to business needs. Responsibilities Assess packaging materials for compliance with food contact, packaging, and product safety regulations in global markets. Review, prepare, approve, and maintain packaging compliance documentation, including Declarations of Compliance and supporting technical files. Evaluate compliance aspects related to PFAS, heavy metals, and other regulatory requirements. Verify that packaging materials meet both local and international regulatory standards in countries where the client's products are sold. Provide compliance advice and technical support to cross-functional teams involved in packaging development projects. Support internal stakeholders and external customers by responding to compliance and food safety inquiries. Maintain and manage packaging compliance data and documentation within relevant systems. Contribute to compliance risk assessments and support the implementation of packaging regulations, including Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements. Participate in compliance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with international teams and attend weekly and monthly compliance team meetings. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Technology, Material Science, Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline. Approximately 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Packaging Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Technical Compliance, or a similar field. Proven experience with food contact material regulations and packaging compliance within the food, food ingredients, food chemicals, or another regulated industry. Strong knowledge of European packaging legislation and compliance requirements. Experience conducting compliance assessments and regulatory risk evaluations. Knowledge of food contact regulations and packaging compliance standards. Understanding of Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Experience reviewing Declarations of Compliance and other regulatory documentation. Familiarity with specification management systems; SAP PLM experience is considered an advantage. Proactive and self-driven with a strong sense of ownership. Analytical, detail-oriented, and accurate in execution. Hands-on mindset with the ability to work independently. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Comfortable working in multicultural and international environments. Eager to learn, adapt, and apply new regulatory knowledge. Fluent in English; Freelance/ZZP candidates are not eligible for this assignment.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Packaging Technology, Material Science, or Food Science. Approximately 5 to 7 years of experience in packaging compliance or regulatory affairs within a regulated industry is required.
