Role Description The Hostel Host at The Bee Hostel is a full-time, on-site role based in Amsterdam, focused on delivering a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests. Day-to-day responsibilities include greeting and checking in guests, providing information about the hostel and local area, handling reservations and payments, and responding to guest inquiries in person and via phone or email. The Hostel Host supports common area supervision, assists with basic housekeeping tasks when needed, and helps coordinate social activities or events to foster a friendly community atmosphere. The role also involves supporting food & beverage service in communal spaces, promoting hostel services and local tours, and collaborating with the team to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. Qualifications Strong Communication skills, including clear spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage. Proven Customer Service and Sales skills, with the ability to handle guest requests, upsell hostel services, and resolve issues calmly. Experience with Training, such as onboarding new team members or guiding guests through hostel rules and local recommendations. Background or familiarity with Food & Beverage service in a casual or hospitality setting. Previous experience in hostels, hotels, or hospitality environments is preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reliable, organized, and comfortable multitasking in a busy, international environment. Valid work authorization for the Netherlands and basic computer skills for reservation and payment systems.
