Job Description

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with a strong specialization in power electronics design. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing power conversion systems and high-efficiency converters. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative hardware solutions and support product development from concept through production. You will be joining a diverse, international team of engineers and creatives working on meaningful, real-world challenges—where your ideas and expertise will make a difference. The company culture at DC Opportunities allows for various growth trajectories, encouragement to contribute to workflow improvements, and the flexibility to achieve goals tailored to the individual. Key Responsibilities: Design and simulate power electronic topologies (DC-DC, AC-DC) and associated control loops. Select critical power components, including wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC, GaN), gate drivers, and custom magnetics (inductors, transformers). Perform schematic capture and guide PCB layout, with a strict focus on high-voltage/high-current routing, thermal management, and minimizing parasitics. Prototype, test, and debug high-power circuits using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and high-voltage probes. Provide hands-on debugging, assembly, and soldering skills for prototyping power hardware. Ensure designs meet strict performance, thermal, safety, and regulatory standards (including proper creepage and clearance). Collaborate with firmware (for digital control implementation), mechanical (for thermal and packaging), and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration. Support root team culture, commissioning of PECS in the field, and continuous improvement efforts. Qualifications: Experience level: Mid-Level (2-5 years) preferred, Entry-Level possible. Research or applied science university degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (focus on Power Electronics preferred). Strong foundation in power converter topologies, loss analysis, and control theory. Proficiency with simulation tools tailored for power electronics (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, PSIM, or MATLAB/Simulink) and ECAD software (KiCad or equivalent). Hands-on experience with high-power lab instruments and adherence to higher voltage safety protocols. Strong understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques and best practices for switching power supplies. Bonus: Experience with digital control of power converters (e.g., TI C2000, STM32) or battery management systems (BMS). Communicative, team-oriented, creative, and flexible. What We Offer: Competitive compensation tailored to your experience level. A collaborative and innovative engineering environment. Exposure to cutting-edge power technologies and sustainability-driven energy projects. Opportunities for professional development, architectural input, and product ownership.
