Cloud Data Engineering Intern Vacancy Code: PS-023 Internship – Hybrid – ASAP (5 - 8 Months) Are you passionate about transforming raw image data into actionable insights? Join us to take ownership of our Azure data backend. We are looking for a data-savvy engineer to build and maintain the data processing pipelines that feed our Machine Learning models: from ingesting images from the edge, to cleaning and aggregating computer vision data, to preparing datasets for model training. Who We Are FOTONIQ is set for a bright future with its pioneering greenhouse coating. Our diffuse coating PAR+ brings consistent diffuse sunlight all year-round. We are a dynamic team using computer vision and ML to optimize physical conditions for crops. We collect massive amounts of image and climate data from our greenhouse projects, stored across complex Azure data storage setups. We need someone who can navigate this data landscape and implement the processing logic that powers our ML pipeline. What You’ll Be Doing Query and extract data from Azure Blob Storage, Data Lake, and SQL databases for specific analysis requests from the team. Design and implement complex data processing steps (cleaning, aggregation, feature engineering) to prepare raw camera images and climate logs for ML model training. Build and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines using Python scripts and Azure CLI, to automate data flow from edge devices to storage. Optimize data storage for cost and performance, by choosing the right file formats, partitioning strategies, and compression. Collaborate with the ML team to understand their data requirements and ensure they have timely, high-quality datasets. Create dashboards or visualizations (e.g., Grafana, Power BI) to monitor data quality and pipeline health. Who We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Strong coding skills in Python, with experience using data libraries like Pandas, NumPy, or Polars. Solid experience with SQL and working with cloud data storage (preferably Microsoft Azure: Blob Storage, Data Lake, or SQL Database). Understanding of data pipeline concepts (ETL/ELT) and experience writing scripts to process large datasets. A problem-solving mindset: you enjoy digging into messy data and making it usable. A passion for sustainability, innovation in horticulture, and making data-driven decisions. Valid student / working visa to perform internship in the Netherlands. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Version Control Systems (Git / GitHub). Familiarity with Machine Learning (e.g., Scikit-Learn) or image data processing (e.g., OpenCV). Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep). Driving license What We Offer A competitive salary, in line with regulations for Dutch working / studying internships, depending on role.
