Job Description

Since 2000, TrellisWare has been pushing the boundaries of wireless communications - building the advanced algorithms, waveforms, and communications systems that power everything from small form-factor radios to fully integrated defense solutions. It's a team that connects passion with purpose, where the work genuinely matters and no one does it alone. The Radio Products Team is looking for a Platform Software Porting Engineer to design, develop, and test the porting foundation of our partner radio vendors' Software Defined Radio products. You'll work closely with vendor-specific embedded hardware, software architectures, platform peripheral/interface abstractions, and inter-processor communication - with strong bonus points for experience in software/system security or deep audio, video, and data network processing. What you'll be doing: Designing, developing, and testing software platform execution environments Building and maintaining Linux and RTOS-based hardware abstraction layers, including inter-processor and inter-process communication Designing and extending hardware-specific software component variants Verifying performance with targeted code and running feasibility/performance analysis on new hardware and software runtime environments Working with common Linux services and protocols Documenting design alternatives and presenting to stakeholders Collaborating cross-functionally to measure, debug, and optimize radio system performance What you'll bring: 4+ years developing embedded Linux and/or RTOS-based board support packages 2+ years with the Yocto Project Strong C/C++ and Python Experience with software debugging and lab test equipment Object-oriented design, data link layer, device drivers, and ARM-based processors The kind of background that helps here: RF Rx/Tx front-end configuration, embedded system security (secure boot, key management, encryption), high-throughput system design (DMA, minimum-copy, overload control), runtime diagnostics and BIT logging, and standard version control and dev tooling. You don't need to tick every box, a solid mix of these plus strong communication skills goes a long way. Must-haves: EU resident, fluent in at least one European language besides English, and able to travel internationally as needed.

Core Responsibilities

You will design, develop, and test software platform execution environments and hardware abstraction layers for software-defined radio products. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally to debug, optimize, and verify radio system performance on targeted hardware.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least 4 years of experience in embedded Linux or RTOS-based board support packages and 2 years with the Yocto Project. Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and experience with ARM-based processors and lab test equipment are required.
