About The Role As a Lead Software Engineer within the Water, Infra & Energie unit, you will serve as the technical leader for automation projects that keep the Netherlands running smoothly. You will oversee a team of control engineers, guiding them through complex projects from initial design to commissioning. Your expertise will shape the standards for PLC and SCADA software used in critical infrastructure, ensuring systems are safe, reliable, and future-proof. You will develop architectural solutions, advise clients on best practices, and ensure project deliverables meet high-quality standards. Your role involves translating functional requirements into robust technical designs, overseeing the development process, and providing technical guidance to engineers and clients alike. Working on high-impact projects such as water treatment plants, tunnel systems, and energy distribution, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding essential services and infrastructure. Qualifications HBO-level education or equivalent in a relevant technical field Minimum of 5 years of experience as a control/software engineer in industrial or process automation Proven experience in advising clients and project teams on automation solutions Experience with developing and managing standards, libraries, and engineering procedures Deep knowledge of systems such as Siemens TIA/S7/WinCC, Aveva/Wonderware System Platform, Schneider EcoStruxure, ABB 800xA, or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 Understanding of industrial processes including batch and continuous processing, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature), drives, and safety (SIL/PL) Experience with documentation such as FDS, SDS, HDS, test plans, and I/O lists Strong communication skills in Dutch and English, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues in greenfield and brownfield environments Responsibilities Technically lead and structure complex industrial automation projects within water, infrastructure, and energy sectors Serve as the primary expert and point of contact within the software and engineering team Coordinate project activities and monitor the quality of all technical deliverables Translate functional requirements into robust technical designs (FDS, SDS, HDS) Advise clients on automation architectures, standardization, lifecycle management, and OT best practices Work on the development and enhancement of standards, libraries, and procedures Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure project success Prepare, oversee, and evaluate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges in both greenfield and brownfield projects Contribute to high-impact projects involving water treatment, waste water, tunnels, bridges, sluices, and energy systems Benefits Lease car or mobility allowance to suit your preferences 13th-month salary, paid either as 8.33% extra monthly or as a lump sum in December 8% holiday allowance paid in May 29 vacation days with options to buy or sell additional days Monthly internet allowance of €50 net Budget of €675 for a mobile phone purchase Home office setup allowance to create an optimal remote working environment Discount on sports subscriptions to promote a healthy lifestyle Hybrid working model balancing remote and on-site work Participation in our collective pension scheme Opportunities for continuous learning through the ICT Academy Annual books budget of €150 for professional development and literature Equal Opportunity ICT Group is an equal opportunity employer.
