Contract Software Engineering Expert – AI Training About the Role This role is with our partner, Micro1. As a Software Engineering Expert, you will apply your domain expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through high-quality, real-world input. No prior AI experience is required; your software engineering knowledge is the focus. You will create Reinforcement Learning Environments that evaluate an AI model’s ability to solve complex software engineering problems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools. This remote contractor role is well suited to engineers who can build reliable evaluation environments, reason through complex codebases, and communicate clearly. Key Responsibilities Create Reinforcement Learning Environments to test AI models on complex software engineering problems using MCP tools. Design tasks involving bug fixes, feature implementation, code refactoring, and performance optimization. Create reproducible environments with deterministic verification and golden reference solutions. Develop evaluations that measure MCP tool use and software engineering ability. Design tasks requiring agents to discover and reason over information from real MCP servers. Provide high-quality, real-world input that helps AI systems learn, reason, and perform. Required Qualifications Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust. Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance tuning. Demonstrated experience debugging complex software issues and delivering maintainable solutions. Strong background in feature development and codebase refactoring. Proven ability to optimize software for performance and scalability. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail. Track record of success working in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in remote team settings.
