About the role As an AI Intern, you'll work on the development, evaluation, and deployment of AI/ML solutions that enhance our sustainability platform's data intelligence, automation, and decision-making capabilities. You'll collaborate with our engineering, product, and business teams to solve real-world challenges using environmental and operational data. From building reliable AI agent workflows to developing evaluation pipelines and exploring new LLM applications, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to practical AI solutions with meaningful impact. You'll also explore how generative AI can improve internal business operations, including marketing and sales activities. This internship is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in modern AI engineering while contributing to a mission-driven technology company. Key Responsibilities Support the development and evaluation of LLM and ML solutions for emissions estimation, document parsing, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics. Design, build, and optimize AI harnesses, including agent loops, execution layers, memory, and tool integrations. Analyze AI execution traces, user feedback, and workflow failures to identify and resolve reliability issues. Build and maintain offline evaluation pipelines and test suites to benchmark AI performance before deployment. Optimize system prompts, context management, and tool schemas to improve agent reliability and execution. Design human-in-the-loop mechanisms to route low-confidence AI outputs for human review. Work with structured and unstructured sustainability data to develop datasets and validate AI performance. Contribute to NLP, RAG, and LLM applications for sustainability reporting automation, taxonomy matching, and intelligent data extraction. Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to integrate AI features into our platform. Research emerging AI technologies, agentic architectures, and applications relevant to climate tech. Explore AI-powered opportunities to improve internal operations and business development activities. Document technical findings, system architectures, and evaluation results to support knowledge sharing. Requirements & Qualifications Education and technical background Currently pursuing a BSc, MSc, or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Environmental Informatics, or a related field. Strong foundational knowledge of Python and data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn. Understanding of machine learning algorithms and large language models (LLMs). Practical experience building RAG architectures and AI agent workflows. Familiarity with AI evaluation methodologies, including LLM-as-a-judge approaches. Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles and software testing. Experience with RESTful APIs and backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask. Proficiency with Git and version control best practices. Familiarity with modern AI frameworks and tools such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Gemini, or ChatGPT. Additional experience that would be valuable Experience designing AI harnesses, agent execution workflows, or tool integrations. Familiarity with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code. Experience with AI evaluation and observability tools such as Langfuse. Understanding of cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Knowledge of sustainability, climate tech, environmental data, or sustainability reporting. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as GHG Protocol, CDP, CSRD, TCFD, or SBTi. Personal qualities Curious, proactive, and motivated to explore new technologies. Analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Comfortable taking ownership and learning through experimentation. Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a remote-first environment. Proficient in English (C1 or higher).
