Functional Business Analyst
Key Skills
Job Description
At Schuberg Philis, we are looking for a Functional Business Analyst to help shape how our organisation uses technology to scale, collaborate and operate effectively. You will work at the intersection of business processes, people and technology. Your role is not limited to gathering requirements or improving an existing workflow. You will help define the vision for a domain, translate that vision into a practical roadmap, align stakeholders and make sure the work gets done. This may involve domains such as IT Service Management, AI, collaboration tooling, sales operations or people processes. Whatever the domain, your focus is the same: make deliberate choices, get the most value from our applications, and drive adoption across the organisation. You are comfortable moving between strategy and execution. One day, you may facilitate conversations with stakeholders to define a target operating model; the next, you may be mapping a process, configuring an application, investigating an integration or working with engineers to resolve an issue. You understand that a good solution is not just well designed, it is useful, adopted and maintainable. What you will do Define and communicate a clear vision for one or more business technology domains; Own and maintain roadmaps: identify opportunities, prioritise initiatives, align stakeholders and turn plans into delivery; Analyse business processes, data flows and user needs, and translate these into clear requirements and functional designs; Lead change initiatives from discovery through implementation, including scoping, planning, testing, rollout and adoption; Help the organisation get more value from its application landscape: improve usage, simplify processes, reduce overlap and make sound investment choices; Work closely with internal stakeholders, engineers and external partners to design sustainable solutions; Drive adoption by ensuring new ways of working and new tooling are understood, supported and embedded in daily practice; Get hands-on where needed. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you are comfortable discussing APIs, integrations, data flows and application configuration—and are not afraid to investigate or fix things yourself; Balance long-term direction with practical progress: you know when to design, when to decide and when to simply get things moving; What we are looking for At least 5 years of experience in a business analysis, process improvement, functional consultancy, product ownership or similar role within an IT-enabled environment; A strong track record of connecting business needs, processes, stakeholders and technology; Experience defining roadmaps, scoping initiatives and leading projects or change programmes; The ability to turn strategic ambitions into practical, measurable improvements; Experience with application selection, implementation, configuration and/or adoption; A solid understanding of integrations, APIs and how systems exchange data. Technical curiosity matters more than knowing every technology in detail; Strong process analysis skills and the confidence to challenge existing ways of working when necessary; A pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset: you take responsibility for outcomes, not just deliverables; Clear communication skills in English, Dutch is a pre. What makes this role interesting This is a broad role with real influence. You will not be handed a fixed list of requirements to process; you will help determine what matters, where we should invest and how we can make change stick. You will have the space to develop a domain, build relationships across the organisation and combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. If you enjoy creating clarity in complex environments, helping people adopt better ways of working and turning technology into meaningful business value, we would like to talk to you.
