Job Description

Principal Product Manager AI Description Equal Experts is a consultancy that builds custom software for large enterprise and public sector clients, across digital, online and mobile products. We're known for applying agile and lean delivery well. We have offices in Australia, India, South Africa, the UK, the EU and the USA. We're looking for a Principal Product Manager AI. You'll also work hands-on as a Product Manager on client engagements, setting priorities for AI-powered products and judging where AI is — and isn't — the right tool. You'll work with Engagement Managers, Delivery Leads, Data Scientists, ML Engineers and Engineers, plus people from the client's team, using agile practices such as CI/CD, fast experimentation and quick feedback loops. Responsibilities Practitioner (on client engagements) Work with clients to define the vision for AI products and decide where AI is the right tool Set product priorities based on cost, risk, value and user needs Set success metrics and quality thresholds for AI features Work with data scientists and ML engineers to get solutions into production safely Build strong relationships across the client organisation Manage AI risks: bias, privacy, security and regulatory compliance Translate between technical AI concepts and business value Make pragmatic calls — including saying no to ideas that aren't worth the cost or risk Required skills Strong product/digital experience, including delivering AI, ML or data-driven products Understanding of the ML/AI lifecycle (data, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring) — enough to challenge delivery teams Familiar with LLMs, RAG, prompting, agents and model evaluation Aware of responsible AI, data governance and relevant regulation Experience with Lean/Agile methods Clear communicator who can explain AI to non-technical people Experience coaching or mentoring others Comfortable balancing internal practice work with client delivery

The Principal Product Manager will define the vision for AI-powered products and set priorities based on cost, risk, and user needs. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, high-quality delivery while managing risks like bias and privacy.

Requirements

Candidates must have strong experience delivering AI, ML, or data-driven products and a deep understanding of the ML lifecycle. Proficiency in agile methodologies and the ability to translate complex technical AI concepts into business value are essential.
