Job Description

Join Ligentia! We are looking for a Freight Forwarder / Allround Expediteur (known internally as Customer Service Operator) to join our Service Delivery Ocean division in Rotterdam. You will be part of a local branch office that combines the agility of a small team with the stability and infrastructure of our global network. Because we operate as a close-knit team, this is a key role where your daily performance is highly visible and directly impacts our local operations. If you prefer managing the complete, end-to-end logistics lifecycle over working within a heavily siloed corporate structure, this environment is a great fit. Your Role: As an all-round freight forwarder, you will handle the complete lifecycle of international shipments, bridging customer service with hands-on logistics execution. Your key responsibilities will include: End-to-End Operational Support: Managing multiple facets of the logistics chain including Ocean, Air, Road transport, and Warehousing. Booking & Routing: Processing cargo space bookings, managing shipping allocations, and coordinating transport with carriers, airlines, shipping lines, and trucking partners to plan efficient, cost-effective routes. Pricing & Quotations: Owning the pricing and quotation management process for customers, evaluating import, export, and domestic shipment costs. Customer & Agent Liaison: Acting as the primary contact to provide active, transparent feedback to customers and international agents regarding cargo progress, shipping options, and incurred costs. Documentation & Compliance: Preparing, checking, and cross-examining international transport documents (e.g. Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, commercial invoices) and coordinating day-to-day customs clearances in alignment with standard Incoterms. Problem Solving: Navigating daily, fast-paced logistics challenges including port delays, missing paperwork, or customs holds to protect customer satisfaction. What You'll Need: Essential Ideally your first 2 years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics. We want an ambitious professional who knows the fundamentals but is eager to learn on the job. A working understanding of core global trade concepts, including Incoterms and general supply chain cargo movements. A confident, articulate, and customer-obsessed communicator who thrives on client and partner engagement. Full professional proficiency in the English language. Ability to navigate fast-paced daily logistics challenges and manage workload dynamically within a small, collaborative team. Desirable Professional proficiency in Dutch is highly advantageous for regional operations and localised vendor management. Experience with CargoWise software or a strong general proficiency in MS Office. Why Ligentia? Why now? Accelerated growth in one of the most dynamic industries you can imagine. Brilliant customers including some of the world’s leading retailers and best-known brands. A tech vision and roadmap that will turn heads for all the right reasons. And colleagues with high commitment and unrivalled knowledge, combined with low ego. A flexible work environment that is collaborative, stimulating and shares genuine feelgood for the work we do together. However you look at it, Ligentia is a great place to be right now. Ready to join us? Apply now! Ligentia requests that recruitment agencies do not speculatively submit CVs to us unless expressly requested to do so by a member of our People team. Any CVs sent to us on an unrequested speculative basis will be ignored. Ligentia will not be liable for any fee or commission payments claimed by a recruitment agent in respect to the employment by us of a candidate whose CV was sent to us on an unrequested speculative basis.

Core Responsibilities

You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of international shipments, including booking, routing, and coordinating transport across ocean, air, and road. Additionally, you will handle pricing, documentation, and customs compliance while acting as the primary point of contact for customers and agents.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has approximately two years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics and a solid understanding of global trade concepts like Incoterms. You must be a confident communicator with full professional proficiency in English, while Dutch language skills are considered a significant advantage.
