About the Role The Principal Solutions Consultant — AI will drive strategic sales initiatives by demonstrating Workiva's AI capabilities and governed platform to enterprise customers. The role supports complex sales pursuits by developing tailored presentations, technical demonstrations, value-based messaging, and AI reference architectures. You will work with enterprise architects, AI/ML leaders, security teams, and C-level executives to understand their evolving AI and data environments and define how Workiva can fit into their technology landscape. The role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing leadership, with a particular focus on AI infrastructure, data governance, integration, model orchestration, security, and regulated reporting. Key Responsibilities Lead the AI technical agenda across complex customer pursuits from initial engagement through deal closure. Serve as a senior technical voice for AI strategy and architecture. Develop reusable technical intellectual property, including patterns, talk tracks, and design guidance. Mentor other Solution Consultants and help expand AI technical capabilities across the organization. Lead technical discovery across business functions such as Finance, GRC, and Sustainability. Collaborate with IT and Security teams to understand customer AI programs and integration requirements. Identify where a governed platform can fit within customers' AI and data environments. Design and deliver tailored technical demonstrations. Create AI reference architectures showing how Workiva's API-first platform can integrate with customer ecosystems. Demonstrate how AI solutions can deliver controlled and production-ready outputs. Share customer and market insights with product, engineering, and leadership teams. Contribute to the development of Workiva's AI roadmap through field insights. Represent Workiva's AI capabilities through industry events, thought leadership, and executive briefings. Required Qualifications 10+ years of technical, customer-facing experience in presales solution consulting, solution architecture, or technical consulting. At least 3 years of experience specifically focused on enterprise AI architecture. Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Strong technical understanding of enterprise AI and data environments. Strong executive communication and presentation capabilities. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences. Preferred Qualifications AI Architecture & Technical Expertise Hands-on experience with modern AI technologies and architectures. Knowledge of: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Agentic AI systems Model Context Protocol (MCP) Model selection and evaluation Enterprise data architecture Ability to write clean code for API interactions. Experience performing technical testing for AI groundedness and quality. Governance & Security Understanding of AI governance frameworks and regulations, including: NIST ISO 42001 EU AI Act Knowledge of AI security risks such as prompt injection and data exfiltration. Understanding of establishing audit readiness for machine-generated outputs in regulated environments. Familiarity with secure software development lifecycle practices. Industry & Financial Expertise Knowledge of corporate reporting, Finance, GRC, Sustainability, and the Office of the CFO. Familiarity with enterprise source systems such as SAP, Oracle, and Snowflake. Relevant AWS, Azure, or AI certifications are beneficial. Communication & Strategic Leadership Proven ability to communicate architectural strategies to C-level executives. Experience representing a technology company through thought leadership and industry events. Strong stakeholder management and strategic communication skills. The role involves significant customer interaction and requires up to 50% travel for customer visits, conferences, and company events.
