THE POSITION As a QHSE Marine Specialist, you join a dedicated team of seven QHSE Marine professionals. While working closely with your colleagues, you will also take ownership of your own portfolio and areas of responsibility. In this role, you act as a trusted advisor to our vessels and work in close partnership with the Ship Management Department. As the subject matter expert for nautical and marine-related QHSE topics, you translate legislation, regulations, and company standards into practical and effective ways of working on board. Audit planning and coordination of external audits and client inspections is also part of the responsibilities. You are primarily based in our Rotterdam office, with regular visits to vessels across the Netherlands and internationally. YOUR IMPACT Your work directly supports safe and responsible operations across our fleet. By connecting with the crews on board, they will receive your support and this helps them to apply safe working standards in their daily work. A key aspect of the role is ensuring that vessels comply with applicable legislation, regulations, and company standards. By working closely with crews, Ship Management and other stakeholders, you turn knowledge into action. In this role, you are contributing to our fleet through Acting as the point of contact for nautical and ship related QHSE issues and advising vessels and Ship Management. Visiting vessels for multi day Safety Culture Visits and supporting crews in their daily work. Planning and conducting internal audits, supporting external audits, external inspections such as OVID, CMID and Suitability Surveys. Supporting incident investigations and conducting maritime security assessments. Facilitating risk assessments, supporting compliance and contributing to the continuous improvement of safety and environmental procedures. You report to the Team Lead for your daily work. The QHSE Marine team reports to the DPA and CSO. About You You understand what working at sea means and can connect your QHSE knowledge to the reality on board. You work independently and take a practical approach to solving problems. You communicate clearly and build strong working relationships with crews and colleagues at different levels. You are also open to travelling for work. You bring A relevant education such as Maritime Technology, Safety Engineering or a comparable study. Several years of work experience as a seafarer or in a QHSE role within the maritime or offshore sector. Understanding of the challenges and daily operations associated with working at sea. Knowledge of maritime laws and regulations and experience with audits. Strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive and independent work attitude and proficiency in Dutch and English. Requirements
