Description of assignment

Are you eager to build dynamic dashboards, analyze global financial trends, and directly influence strategic decision-making? At Vanderlande, Group Financial Control manages complex datasets across both financial performance and ESG/sustainability metrics. Translating these massive data streams into clear, actionable business insights remains a critical operational priority.

During this internship, you will bridge the gap between financial reporting and data analytics. You will develop, refine, and optimize reporting structures and Power BI dashboards to support key stakeholders across the global organization. By analyzing performance, monitoring trends, and advancing data quality, you will actively contribute to Vanderlande’s transition toward integrated financial and sustainability reporting. The key research question is:

‘How can Vanderlande leverage business intelligence tools and data analytics to optimize Group Financial Control reporting and integrate financial and sustainability metrics into actionable management insights?’

Department description

You will join a dynamic Group Financial Control team of 16 professionals working at the strategic heart of Vanderlande. The department executes financial control at a group level, advises international legal entities on IFRS standards, coordinates monthly external financial reporting, and handles complex accounting challenges. Additionally, the team translates Vanderlande’s strategic sustainability goals into financial roadmaps and drives continuous process improvement across global entities.

Tasks/responsibilities

  • Monthly analysis of consolidated figures and discuss the outcomes with Business Finance
  • Work on ad-hoc requests from Business Finance and Financial Shared Service Centers
  • Contribute to several finance related improvement projects
  • Contribute to our journey towards integrated reporting

 Your profile

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analytics and dashboarding tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and visualize financial and sustainability-related data
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to connect easily with stakeholders
  • *Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands

  • Bachelor: €500 per month
  • Master: €550 per month
  • Full commuting allowance, including public transport, depending on whether you have access to free public transport or not
