About this Position

As a Process Safety Engineering Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of Henkel's global process safety strategy, ensuring the highest standards of process safety, major accident prevention, and risk management across our manufacturing network. Acting as a trusted expert and strategic partner, you will collaborate with Operations, Engineering, SHE, and Project teams to strengthen process safety performance, support safe growth, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

What you´ll do

  • Promote and strengthen a world-class process safety culture across manufacturing, engineering, and operational teams globally.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide process safety standards, procedures, governance, and management systems.
  • Serve as the global subject matter expert for process safety and major accident prevention, providing technical guidance and support across sites and functions.
  • Lead and oversee process hazard identification and risk assessment activities, including HAZOP, What-If Analysis, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis, FMEA, and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA).
  • Evaluate chemical reaction hazards, thermal stability, reactive chemistry risks, incompatibilities, runaway reactions, and explosion hazards.
  • Review new processes, technologies, capital projects, and site modifications to ensure safe design principles and process safety requirements are incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide assurance through audits, assessments, and compliance reviews related to engineering and process safety standards.
  • Partner with regional and site leadership teams to identify risks, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen process safety performance.
  • Develop and deliver process safety training, capability-building programs, and awareness initiatives across the organization.
  • Monitor industry developments, emerging regulations, and best practices to continuously enhance Henkel's process safety framework.

What makes you a good fit

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in chemical process engineering, reactive chemistries, and process safety within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemicals, refining, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, or other process industries.
  • Deep expertise in process hazard analysis methodologies, including HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie Analysis, FMEA, and QRA.
  • Strong technical knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, process design, fire and explosion hazards, dust hazards, and reactive chemical safety.
  • Experience with safety instrumented systems, relief and vent system design, and major accident prevention programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, of min. 5 years, within global or multi-site organizations, with the ability to influence and drive change across functions.
  • Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer (PE), Functional Safety Engineer, or AIChE/CCPS Process Safety certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and a passion for safety excellence.
