Java Backend Developer Groenlo, Netherlands 32 - 38 hrs € 4.000 - € 5.500 Hybrid What are you going to do? As a Java Backend Developer, you will help develop software that enables organizations to securely manage access to people, buildings, and assets. Within Nedap in security, we work on access management solutions for complex environments, including large organizations and companies operating critical infrastructure. This puts high demands on the security, reliability, and quality of our software. Your main focus will be on the backend. You will develop and maintain reliable and secure services and integrations and build and maintain REST APIs. Working with Java and Jakarta EE, you will look beyond whether something simply works. You will also contribute to building software that remains reliable, maintainable, and easy to test over the long term. You will have the space to contribute to technical decisions, critically assess existing code, and work with your colleagues to make improvements. This means your work is not only about developing new functionality, but also about maintaining and further improving the quality of our software. Start your application Your responsibilities You develop and maintain reliable and secure backend services and software integrations using Java and Jakarta EE. You build and maintain REST APIs and ensure robust, maintainable integrations with other systems. You work according to shared coding standards, review your colleagues’ code, and ensure your own code is clear, maintainable, and reliable. You contribute to automated testing and ensure that both new and existing functionality continues to work reliably. You work iteratively in an Agile environment and contribute to improving the way we develop and deliver software. Your team As a Java Backend Developer, you will join one of two focus teams working on our on-premises access management solution. Together, these teams are responsible for developing the functionality included in new releases. You will be part of the team focused on APIs, integrations with technology partners, and improving user processes. The team consists of several developers specializing in either front-end or backend development, a software architect, a QA engineer, and a Product Owner. The teams are supported by a DevOps engineer, UX Designer, technical writers, and a team coach. Our offer What's in it for you? The salary range for this role is between € 4.000 and € 5.500 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours) and depends on relevant knowledge and experience. You enjoy working according to shared coding standards and actively contribute to continuously improving them as a team. You are pragmatic and enjoy working with others to build good software. This also means reviewing each other’s work, being open to feedback, and sharing your knowledge. You are naturally curious about new technologies and enjoy exploring how developments such as AI can help us make our solutions smarter and create more impact. You also recognize yourself in the following: Backend development: You have at least three years of relevant experience in backend development. Java: You have solid experience with Java and Jakarta EE. APIs: You have experience building and maintaining REST APIs. Experience with JPA and JDBC is a plus. Broad technical knowledge: Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular, TypeScript, and HTML, server-side pages, or end-to-end testing with Cypress is a plus. Language skills: You have a good command of English. Dutch is a plus. Good to know: You are available for 32–38 hours per week. Hybrid (remote) working is common practice at Nedap, and you will coordinate your working hours with your team to ensure a good work–life balance.
