Help us tell the story of our work in Liberia! We're looking for a writer who will work closely with our team in Liberia and our international volunteers to write our monthly English blog and quarterly English newsletter. Through your words, our donors, funders and friends will remain updated about what's happening at Mineke Foundation. What it involves Writing in publication-ready English (we translate to Dutch separately). Digging for the story: reviewing our team's monthly reports and reaching out directly to our team. You’re not the kind of person who waits to be briefed. Planning, researching and creating engaging written content that highlights programmes, impact stories, volunteer experiences, and community voices Coordinating with our other volunteers. We're a small team finding its rhythm, so there’s a lot of room to help shape how we tell our story. In more detail: tasks include drafting blog posts and newsletter articles, interviewing team members and beneficiaries, coordinating with our team in Liberia for updates and ensuring that content reflects our mission and tone. The role also involves scheduling and publishing content, repurposing material for email updates and collaborating with other volunteers to align blog and newsletter content with broader outreach goals. You will also help maintain a consistent publishing calendar and propose new ideas to increase audience engagement and donor interest. You are A strong English writer and engaging storyteller (we'll ask you for a writing sample). Willing to put in the time to get to know us and our work Comfortable working independently, taking initiative and communicating proactively across time zones Reliable and willing to volunteer for at least 6 months Experienced with content management tools or platforms (like WordPress, Elementor, Mailchimp) Available around 4 - 6 hours per month. Dutch is a welcome bonus, not required. Basic familiarity with video production is a plus, particularly for repurposing written content into short video scripts or supporting multimedia stories. About Mineke Foundation Mineke Foundation works in Liberia to help young people and women become economically self-reliant, through education and entrepreneurship. We run three programmes: Damiefa School (affordable private education from kindergarten through Grade 9), the Women's Club (entrepreneurship training, vocational courses and microloans) and the Resource Center (a multifunctional space with a small library, games and toys, and digital skills training; still in development). Core Responsibilities
The writer will create engaging blog posts and newsletters to highlight the foundation's impact, programs, and community stories. They will also coordinate with the team in Liberia to gather updates and maintain a consistent publishing calendar.
Requirements
Candidates must be strong English writers and storytellers who are comfortable working independently and proactively. Experience with content management tools like WordPress and Mailchimp is required, along with a commitment of at least 6 months.

Mineke Foundation works in Liberia. Our goal is to help people - especially young people and women - to become economically self-reliant. We focus on education and entrepreneurship and have three projects: Damiefa School offers affordable private education from nursery through secondary school. The national Liberian curriculum is complemented by an Art education programme developed by Dutch and American educators and Liberia Reads!, a Reading comprehension programme developed for Liberia by American and Liberian educators. Our Women's Club combines entrepreneurship and gender. Our entrepreneurship programme includes skills & business training, coaching, micro-loans and a savings scheme. Our gender programme addresses topics like (reproductive) health, women's rights, leadership and gender-based violence. It also offers social activities to build community. Our Resource Center (in development) is a multipurpose facility with a small library, computer lab and play area. It currently has 2 main user groups: Damiefa School students and youth aged 15 - 30. Mineke Foundation is an award-winning NGO known for its quality and professionalism. We are a fully-accredited Liberian NGO, vocational training institute and private school. A small, committed and motivated local team manages our work in Liberia. Our work is supported by a team of remote international volunteers who help with fundraising, social media & communication and knowledge transfer. Both teams work closely together. Mineke Foundation was founded in 2009 by Tonia Dabwe to build on the work her Liberian father and Dutch mother started in Liberia in the late 1960s. The NGO is named after Tonia's mother who was abducted by Charles Taylor's NPFL rebels during the Liberian civil war. She remains missing.
