Job Description

Hours: Fulltime, 40 hours Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands The Position As a Commercial Analytics Intern, you will receive one core analytical project with a clear business objective and deliverable (approximately 80% of your time). The remaining time of your internship is dedicated to gaining structured desk exposure, providing hands-on experience across different products and desks. You will also have the opportunity to work with commercial teams and learn how analytical insights translate into trading decisions and opportunities. Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to physical, futures, and OTC markets. In this role, you will work closely with the Trading, Risk Management and Commercial teams to support trading desks with market analysis, risk reporting, and analytics. You will be responsible for real analytical tasks used in day-to-day trading decisions. (This is not a general business or administrative internship). Your Key Responsibilities Analyse price movements, spreads, and forward curves; Support daily exposure and risk monitoring for trading desks; Assist with scenario and sensitivity analysis on trading positions; Help analyse PnL drives and market performance; Maintain and improve desk-level dashboards and reports; Automate recurring reports using Excel and/or Python; Work with market and position data from internal systems. Your Profile You are a recent Bachelor graduate in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Data Science or similar; Has strong analytical and numerical skills and is comfortable working with data and drawing conclusions; Has advanced Excel skills (VBA) and experience with Python, R, SQL or similar programming; Has genuine interest in markets, trading, and commodities; Preferably has prior exposure to financial markets or commodities; Preferably has experience with data analysis projects or coursework; Proactive mindset: you take ownership of tasks, ask questions and seek opportunities to add value; Adaptability: a dynamic work environment is where you thrive in; Curiosity and learning agility: you are eager to explore markets, products and trading strategies, and to continuously develop new skills; Collaborative and independent working style: you have a team-player mentality, yet capable of working independently; Structured and precise: you pay attention to details and you have a methodical approach to ensure accuracy in all aspects of your work; Strong communication skills: both written and verbal, you know how to communicate effectively and clear with internal and external stakeholders; A hands-on, pragmatic approach: tackling tasks direct and efficient is something you do well. Requirements
