Relocation to the United States — Norfolk, Virginia. We provide the NATO-5 visa.
A multinational defence organisation needs sustained analytical capacity on emerging and disruptive technologies. This role provides it — cataloguing, assessing and advising, inside the innovation branch.
What you would be doing
- Identifying new emerging technologies and cataloguing the existing ones.
- Assessing their implications and adoption opportunities on a continuing basis.
- Promoting experimentation with technology-based solutions in realistic environments.
- Feeding the science and technology programme of work and the foresight and defence planning strands it supports.
- Identifying capability shortfalls that adoption would close, from the planning products and the operational lessons.
- Educating staff on the opportunities and the risks.
- Running the knowledge base that shows the current state of adoption.
- Working as part of the innovation branch under multi-domain force development.
What you would bring
- A bachelor degree from a recognised university in computer science, information and communication technology, engineering or a related discipline.
- At least two years acquiring, assembling and interpreting research and technology information.
- Knowledge of national science and technology sources.
- Experience judging how future technology applies in a military environment.
- The ability to work analytically on technology documentation and build practical adoption examples.
- Comfortable with office tooling and open-source research.
- Fluent professional English.
This is a long engagement that renews year on year, not a short project.
Core Responsibilities
The analyst will identify, catalogue, and assess emerging and disruptive technologies to support NATO's innovation branch and defense planning. They will also promote experimentation with technology-based solutions and educate staff on associated opportunities and risks.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, ICT, engineering, or a related field. At least two years of experience in research, technology information interpretation, and military technology application is required.
